Canon IR 3220 vs CLC 1180

I have been offered the old CLC 1180 from my old company for a OK price and an IR3220 from someone else

    both come with RIps

the CLC 1180 has a RIP attached to the TOP not sure of the model

    the IR 3220 has a ps-nx 3000 Fiery Rip

We are a smart startup design company we dont do a huge volume but the files are usual large Photohop and illustrator files.

    any suggestion would be good

Colour quality wise the CLC wins hands down...but it can be pretty high maintenance so for reliability you'd go with the IRC.

You need a technician to find out a condition of the machines. How many copies, periodically replacement parts....
        my choose is clc 1180.

            IRC3220 vs CLC1180

The 2 machines are pretty different:
            - through the 1180 the paper passes 4 times for a color print while through the 3220 it passes once - so the speed is much better for the 3220 (32 pages vs 11 pages)
            - media tipe - the 1180 can handle upto 209 gsm while the 3220 upto 253 gsm
            - print quality (not copy) is also in favor of the 3220 - newer machine - if you want an even better/faster rip get the CLC3220 (same machine + a Fiery RIP)
            - copy quality - it's a matter of taste, but the 1180 uses silicone oil mixed with the toner, so it "smoothes" the pixels, you also get a much glossier print and you can feel the toner on the paper - it looks pretty good; the 3220 gives a matte print compared to the other (you should see same image printed on both machines, also to make a copy on both)
            - in terms of service and supplies: the 3220 easier to maintain, most units easily changed by user, price per copy beter, while the 1180 needs service tech to change drum, developer etc.
            - as a conclusion, the 1180 not a bad machine, but the 3220 is a newer generation, faster, better print/RIP, easier to maintain
