    CLC5100 or Docucolor 250

    Hi again.

Just a question, I have a new sales guy roaming my shop.. He wants to sell me a CLC5100. How does it compare to a Xerox Docucolor 250 ?

I am about to buy a 250, this guy came in offering the clc.

    Do they even compare?
    Better print quality ?
    Longer Lasting ?

    Any help is appreciated..

ClC's are CLC's.. The 5100 is a high maintenance machine but its a good unit for its time. I don't know about Xerox Docucolor 250 so i don't have a comment. Why don't you ask that salesman about the Image runner advance C9000 series.

if you are in NYC , I can recommend a great company for sales & service- they have won many Awards from Canon. PM me
Stay away from Docucolor 250/ poor support/poor blacks/plenty of maintenance
Canon now beats Xerox into the ground when it comes to Color Products.

CLC5100 is a great machine/ in the right environment/= on this Canon printer get a good service company/with highly trained tech,s
I like the Canon imagePress 6000

The Imagerunner Advance 9000 series doesn't produce good quality colour on cheap 80gsm paper. A tech who I work with was made aware of this on a Canon training course. Maybe this issue will be sorted out with a firmware update.

I kind of agree with you. I remember in training there were some guys that I paired up with and we kind of had that same impression. On glossy paper the qaulity looked better but, customers are not going to print on glossy all day. I doubt firmware will correct this. Its still a great machine to work on.

The problem with poor quality on 80gsm is solved.

A new firm + itb and the mc is great.
As far no problem with the mc.
We have quite many out in the field and thy are working just great..

I work with canon machines, and xerox machine, and some customers are buying the dc250. Makes heavy paper, up to 280g, automatic two sided up to 220g, the fiery is excellent and offers many features, including color curvers (using the spectrofotometer). I like this machine.....The cost of printing is cheap

Ok Teckat, but I'm not comparing the machines, only raising the highlights of the dc 250. This is the topic......

I must correct myself. With the firmware 37.01 and the new thinner ITB belt, the molting has be corrected.

Today I just replaced the newer ITB and updated firmware to latest and greatest. NOTE: You must update firmware before putting the newer type ITB belt

i havent seen a clc since 1150 but for colour i personally prefer you going for xerox 250 . anyway looks for which one is providing the best service and costs involved. no matter how good your machine is if you dont get proper service support is on no use.
a machine is only as good as your tech : source:screwtape ; the scary one

Amen to that!! All machines are only as good as the service organization behind it...

Bottom line.....Xerox color oversaturated.....if customer wants true image reproduction buy a Canon. The Xerox color machines can run plywood thru them though...only machine Canon will support for 12 pt and thicker is v7000 series and New Imagerunner advanced 9000 series. All Xerox color machines can run thick stock...thats why print shops like them...BUSINESS CARDS on 12 or 14 pt. I am definitely pro-Canon but lets be honest....i worked at Xerox for a dozen years and i have seen what you can run thru them. Canon is always going after the "office color" market, lacking in "pay for print" unless you wanna pay a fortune.
