Canon IR 105 with an E 012

I have replaced the DC Controller, Drum Drive Unit, and Drum Shaft and Bearings. I have cut the wire ties and isolated the wires and connectors. The wires Ohm out fine. I have swapped out the Main Controller, All Coronas, developer unit, and fixing frame unit with another machine and all components work on the other machine. The broken machine goes through the warm up process until it hits 193C. The motor starts and immediately codes with the E 012. While in the error state I can run the Drum Drive Motor and it comes up OK. I have run out of ideas and think it might be while it is trying to write the patch. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try turning Potential Control off or replace Potential sensor.

The E012 code supposedly indicates a problem related to the drum motor so I don't know why you swapped out that many parts. Anything that could slow down or inhibit turning of drum motor could cause this code. if the waste toner drive assembly or cleaning assembly is binding this might cause the trouble. I hope this helps...please let me know if the problem was indeed related to those assemblies.

Problem :
The machine generated an E012 error code multiple times throughout the day.

Solution :
The solution in this instance was to reattach the spring for MSW5(Bypass Door Switch) to the switch mount. The spring (#27) attaches to items #1 and #5. techpic..jpg

Other techs in the area thought I had an arc, so I thought it was worth a try. I only swapped the with another machine just to scratch them off the list. I have also swapped out the AP units and replaced the Cleaning blade assembly which looked like it needed to be changed anyway. This is a really old machine 22 Million plus. I have turned the rest of the waist toner unit by hand and it feels fine. I saw the tech pubs and thought it was worth a try too. The bypass door microswitch was Ohmed out and seems fine also. Thanks for the input.

you could have a 24vdc issue !!!

Make sure that you have the 38v interlocked coming off the relay pcb to the motor

I have the 38V coming off the Relay Board and also at the DC controller. The motor turns no problem in service mode also "OK". I even compared the rate to the other machine in the room and it seems to match so I do not think it is a speed issue. I'm leaning toward replacing the waste toner drive unit and the micro switch on the bypass door even though they tested out fine. If they do not work I'm leaning toward black patch creation. I will turn off potential first to see if that works also. Thanks for the help. I'll keep you posted.
