[QUOTE=SCREWTAPE;140881]Are you familiar with using SST Jerry?
Its not a simple task for a non tech user.[/Q
No have never used the SST, but I have the manual, and have the SST, so will give it a shot!!
In the old days used a flash card, with Ricoh, and the same type of program with Konica./
Was a real pain.
Damm I knew I should have gone to that Canon school!!

u will be fine / just read the SST manual/ follow instructions/
Canon instruction trainers usually skimmed over SST when it first came out/ best way i learned was trial n' error / the new SST is a breeze
Install SST first on laptop/ then 3220 model System Firmware as below:
Preparing System Software files for the Service Support Tool
Download the series iR3220 model file.
Execute/Open> the series model file. This will place the file in the following location: “C:\Canon File
Folder\SST Service Support Tool Folder\SST Files”.
Start the Service Support Tool (SST) and select “Register Firmware”. sst..JPG Right click the C: folder on the list and browse to the following location: “C:\Canon File
Folder\SST Service Support Tool Folder\SST Files\ iR3220 sst1..JPG Click the search button and the Service Support Tool (SST) will search that folder for the
series model system software and propagate it in the right of the SST screen.
Click the “Register” button to install the series model system software.
As the software is installing, the progress bar moves across the SST and OK is displayed on
the right of the file installed sst3..JPG disregard model example figures shown .
I have the sst, and firmware, and crossover cable, with the old and new harddrive can not connect. I can ping 172.16.1.100, have set my adapter to 172.16.1.101
***DO NOT START UP SST ON LAPTOP UNTIL U HAVE DOWNLOAD SCREEN UP ON CONTROL PANEL
u don't need to use or hold 1 n' 9 key, that is for a HHD CHECK of partitions for a e602 error check
power off copier/ Formatting a new HDD below
While holding down both the 2 and 8 keys on the control panel, then turn on the power to start up/keep holding 2 n' 8 key until u see
download screen
Using the HD formatting function of the SST, format all partitions

Differences Between the ALL and ALL_HDF Batch Files
the differences between the ALL and ALL_HDF batch files? Which one should be used?
The Service Support Tool now gives you the ability to perform system software installations via a batch file (ALL or ALL_HDF). A batch file is a data file that actually does not contain data but rather a listing of commands to download specific data files in sequence. It can be used to minimize the interaction of a user with the Service Support Tool - particularly when downloading a complete set of data to a unit.
Despite the reference to ALL, these Batch Files do not flash all possible data to the unit - specifically options like G3 Fax are NOT included at this time. This is because they are options and may not be installed in a given machine.
Registering Firmware in the Service Support Tool:
In addition to registering the batch file(s) in the Service Support Tool, you MUST also register all of the individual data files as well (ex. System, RUI, Language, BootROM, etc). Remember, a batch file only contains a listing of commands. The data files are separate items that must also be registered.
Differences Between the 'ALL' and 'ALL_HDF' Batch Files:
Currently, there are two types of batch files available, ALL and ALL_HDF. The difference in these files relates mainly to which Download Modes will be available.
I. ALL: The ALL file is meant for re-installation of software onto a machine that already contains a working system (i.e. Download Mode in Service Mode can be entered).
1. Power up holding down 1 and 7 keys and enter download mode through service mode.
2. Install BOOT (BootROM).
3. Install SYSTEM.
4. Install LANGUAGE.
5. Install RUI.
6. Install MEAP CONT.
7. Install BROWSER.
8. Install TTS.
9. Install SDICT.
10. Install KEY.
11. Install DCON.
12. Install RCON.
II. ALL_HDF: The ALL_HDF is intended for use when a HDD has been formatted with HDFormat or when a new service part HDD has been installed (i.e. there is no working system installed).
1. Power up holding down 2 and 8 keys to enter download mode.
2. Install SYSTEM.
3. Install LANGUAGE.
4. Install RUI.
5. Install MEAP CONT.
6. Install BROWSER.
7. Install TTS.
8. Install SDICT.
9. Install KEY.
10. Firmware has been downloaded to the HDD. Click Finish.
11. Turn off and turn on copier to complete installation of downloaded firmware.
12. Wait for the message 'Switch OFF the power then ON' on the copier. Turn off copier and power it back on holding down 1 and 7 keys and enter download mode through service mode.
13. Install BOOT (BootROM).
14. Install DCON.
15. Install RCON.
The ALL_HDF Batch File and Formatting the Hard Drive:
The ALL_HDF batch file does NOT format the HDD. The HDD must be formatted by using the HDFormat file. On the newer model machines, you must connect to the device in 'Single Mode' to format the HDD with the HDFormat file.
If you replace the HDD on a machine, the HDD must be formatted using the HDFormat file BEFORE performing a batch install with the ALL_HDF batch file. Otherwise, the ALL_HDF batch install will fail.

any help
Thanks Jerry S
question/ where did u get the new HHD/ from Canon an OEM Part ???
**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**
If you can ping then SST should work.
Are you in Download Mode? Another option is holding 1+7 for fixed ip then get into download mode from service mode. Copier->Function->System->download
Does the orange interface box on SST say Network?
I still cannot connect the copier to the laptop. Using ir c3200 firmware. just will not connect
Jerry S
what is the connection issue, you are having Did u install SST ON Laptop ??
Did u install 3220 firmware in to SST ??
Did u use a crossover cable ??
to connect to the machine's network port?? Did u install / & check new HHD connections ? You MUST use SAFE MODE in order to format the BOOTDEV partition of the hard drive, this will NOT be accomplished in normal mode.
SAFE MODE:Hold down the 2&8 keys while turning on the power, hold until 'download mode' is displayed ??
Each mode requires the machine be turned on while holding down different combination's of control panel keys and both modes automatically set the machine, (HOST), IP address to: 172.16.1.100. It is not necessary to make any IP address changes anywhere else on the machine. Canon recommends your laptop or workstation IP address be set to 172.16.1.10, but can be set anywhere in the 172.16.1.x range, with a subnet address of: 255.255.255.0. Once this is done, you must ensure that there is communication between the Laptop and the imageRUNNER by performing a ping. When flashing the iRC 3200 / C3220 / C2620
1. Start up PC / Laptop
2. Check the network setting for the PC / Laptop
2.1 Start command prompt. After inputting 'IPCONFIG', press the return key
2.2 Check if the network setting displayed on the screen is same as the following setting. If not, change the network setting for the PC.
IP address: 172.16.1.160
Sub netmask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: Arbitrary
Note: Do not designate the following IP address on the PC:
- 172.16.1.0
- 172.16.1.100
- 172.16.1.255
Connect the machine body to the PC with the crossing cable.

I cannot get in to 2&8 safe mode, my screen in black. I did try it but does not come up.Have laptop set to 172.16.1.160
have sst loaded, software for the ir c3220,have crossover cable, still can not connect with old or new hard drive!! How should the slave master setting be on the new hard drive? It had four sets of pins, not three like the old.
Does anyone have ahard drive with software loaded that I can buy??
I have another irc3220, can I switch that hard drive with out hurting it. We are talking about the harddrive in the copier, not the one in the printserver right?
Sorry if this is so hard for a Ricoh, Toshiba, and Konica tech!!!
