Push Scanning on CANON IR3100CN & Irregular size photocopying/scanning

    First Problem:
Is it possible to use push scanning on my printer? By this i mean set a folder up on the network server and scan to that folder.
I understand this was an optional extra with the 3100 but it was a standard feature on a 3100CN (cn standing for colour network i believe). However when I go to "Scan" tab i have no option of scanning to folder.
I have tried to do the following :
Address book Settings-> Register Address-> Register New Address (as suggested in a different thread)but i only get "FAX" or "Group" or "Search on Server"....but the search on server is for LDAP server not the normal server.
Is there some special setting to be changed on the service mode screens?

    Second Problem:
I get invoices in that are SLIGHTLY wider than A4 because they are printer on dot-matrix printers OR because the supplier is a fancy knob that enjoys printing to slightly awkward standards

If i feed the paper into the multiple sheet tray scanner, they dont fit in standard PORTRAIT A4 but if i lay them landscape all i get is either the printer prints on A3 or onto A4 but only the top bit of the invoice.

What I want to do is:
The printer needs to realise that it's A4 lanscape and print to A4 landscape (altough reduce the zoom by X amount). Is this possible?

    Cheers

I could give you an answer for your scanning issue. In order to scan to file you would need universal send. If you have a send tab thaen you could scan to file. If you have a scan tab then you can only scan to desktop using a color network scan gear tool.

Screwtape is correct; Universal send is an option, even on the "N" model.

Attached is a screenshot from the original product support guide.

You should also be aware that Color Network ScanGear needs an application to scan into; you can't use it by itself.

There may be a switch you can set to always reduce your incoming faxes a bit so that they will fit on A4 size paper. If I can find that, Ill post the answer.

Yeah having no trouble using Scangear throgh either word or irfan view or any other TWAIN enabled program.

@ SCREWFIX: so was the sending option a system board attachment rather than a firmware upgrade? -That sucks!

You might need both hardware and software for the send feature if i'm not mistaking. Firmware upgrading won't give you the send feature.

We've gotten a few N's in that had the "Send" button instead of "FAX" clearing the main controller brought the function back.

***Resolution Switching Board A2 does not come standard with the imageRUNNER C3100. It is available as an option. Resolution Switching Board A2 is required to Fax using the imageRUNNER C3100.
Resolution Switching Board A2 and Color Universal Send Kit B1P
are required to give the imageRUNNER C3100 Universal Send functionality.

              • To use the Send function of this machine, the Color Universal Send Kit and Resolution
              Switching Board are necessary.
              • To use the Fax function of this machine, the Super G3 FAX Board and Resolution
              Switching Board are necessary.

A simple way to verify that a Resolution Switching Board (Send Board) is installed in the imageRunner is to check in Service Mode.
              *28* > Copier > Display > ACC-STS > SEND
SEND will indicate "0" if NO Resolution Switching Board in installed
SEND will indicate "1" if the Resolution Switching Board is installed

***To identify if the Resolution Switching Board is installed, and installed correctly, first look at the board slot covers on the cage unit at the back of the imagerunner. The Resolution Switching Board is NOT installed if the second cover from the bottom has two bumps (nipples) diagonally across from each other. If the plate surface is flat, the board is installed.

Next, check that the board is installed correctly. Remove the back cover of the Color imageRUNNER copier.

              AUT_3952..JPG
Once the back cover is removed, the metal plate has to be unscrewed.
Note: When removing the metal plate, be careful not to break the fan wire and not to damage the power supply.
              AUT_3954..jpg
The Resolution Switching Board is pictured Below. It is installed in the second PCI slot from the bottom. Reseat the board to refresh the connections. WARNING: Power off the imageRUNNER before disconnecting any electrical components.

                Hey buellboy..

What you need to do is.

                Get rid of that 3100.

                LOL.
