When you hit paper select, what does it show under each cassette.

    Ltr
    Ltr-r
    LgL
    11x17

How are you setting up the paper in the trays?

What are you running out of tray 2, paper size??

error message can be caused by a broken or misaligned Position Block (shown below, Figure 310/312 in the Parts Catalog). If the cassette does not seem to be locking into place, this part may be the cause. In some cases, applying pressure to the front of the cassette will temporarily alleviate the problem. click on pic below

Look at how they spent spare parts under the number 11 and 12.

Probably worn down actuator arm or lazy return spring somewhere...as Teckat stated...wrong paper type or size indicated?
