    iR-c5180 Error E674-008

I just installed this Fax-board on this working iR-c5180 but get error E674-008. I can't figure out what could be wrong.

I found one connector at the bottom and three connectors at the top. Only thing I notice is that there is a(fourth) three-pin connector (two wires) on the top, that doesn't go anywhere. Could I be missing something?

    Please help.

Does it need a Resolution-board also?

Try removing and reseating the connector for J260 on the fax board. The connection to J260 is a 2 pin harness with blue and orange wires.

If reseating J260 does not solve this, you may try a main controller clear. Before doing a main controller clear, print out the service mode settings.

Enter service mode level 1 and print out the service mode settings (COPIER>FUNCTION>MISC-P>P-PRINT).

Also note this will also clear any Mail Boxes and any User Data.

Then press (COPIER>FUNCTION>CLEAR>MN-CON) select MN-CON then press OK.

          SCREWTAPE,

I did what you suggested, but still get the same code.

However, if I do an error->clear, the display comes back immediately and looks normal; I can see the fax function now. However, the display responds weird and, if I turn the copier off, the machine goes off but the display remains on.
Finally I have not choice but to restart the copier from the master switch. Then the code comes back and I am back to square one.

Do I need to update the system software? Now the machine has 52.01 for DC-CON and 51.01 for BOOTROM.

          Bill

I would try upgrading at this point.

                Your gonna need SST too.

Do you know how to upgrade machines?

Can you verified which fax kit you installed into the machine.

                    Just to add>for iR-c5180 Error E674-008

Make sure u have installed the correct Fax for this model !!!!!
Check and re-seat the ribbon cables located inside the G3 fax

Check the cable between the fax and Main Controller and the power connector/It is easy for this connector to be partially inserted on either side, ensure it is fully inserted.

You do not need the 512 MB RAM for universal send (this is standard on the machine) or the fax board for this model. All you need the 512 MB RAM for is the PS kit to expand the memory for printing.

I did install the latest firmware: 66.01 for DC-CON and 51.01 for BOOTROM. (Is this the latest?) I still get E674-008.

The machine has 1536-MB of RAM.; Universal Send; Print PS/PCL/UFR-II.

I do not know which fax board I have, the control panel shows "????ONBOARD FAX" How can I tell?

                          Thanks for your help.

where did you get this Fax Board From ??
                            Was it Boxed ??

First Remove Fax Board- then upgrade 5180- then put back Fax Board.
if correct Fax Board is installed/ should work

Your System Software and Language must be same version/
If u have v92.06 u need to install all the Firmware / using SST-Select iRC5185 V3- highlight ALL/ Download to machine. Do not pic and choose what Firmware to download .
