Image Using Document Feeder Too Intense - IR3300i

Might anyone know if a setting adjustment in service mode might correct a problem experienced with a IR3300i that causes copies and scanned images (to computer) to be too dark on areas that are suppose to be clean - when only the document feeder is used.

If using recycled paper in the document feeder, you can see the images that are very faint on the opposite side of the paper, but are showing up on the output copy.

The copies or scans made from the platten glass are coming out clean & with no problem, as are the documents sent through the print function from a computer to the IR3300i. Thanks.

check that the slit glass is free of debris and that the height of the feeder is correct it.

In service mode, make certain that Copier>Option>Body>ORG-LTR is set to '0'

Check out your optics as well.

      If dirty clean them.

Chances are you just might have to deal with it.

Srewtape and teckat are correct. There is no separate adf adjustment for the ADF shading correction in service mode. ccd adjust might help. The shading correction that the copier does when you start to copy is done by the reader unit for both adf copies and copies made from the glass. You should check the optics (especially the slit glass) . If they are fine then not much else you can do. In the Canon knowlagebase there is a pub that says To resolve the backgrounding from the DADF H-1 replace the scanlamp and inverter PCB but I fail to see how that would help when copies and scans from the glass are ok.

Thanks guys for the assistance. Was able to resolve using the ccd adjust function in service mode - unit automatically readjusted the overexposure.

just an fyi....another service setting that alot of techs don't utilize is cop/opt/body/df-bline..setting this to a "1" disables edge emphasis of image processing when using the document feeder. Edge emphasis thickens lines that are weak..when this is set to "1" you will get less lines with a dirty steam read glass...no problems with image quality at all

                  Thanks Guys.

Am also having an issue by IR5000 not printing a 20 page scanned document (only the 1st page prints). A HD Check was done before this symptom occurred.

Tried re-starting system but only prints page 1. Other word processing documents don't have a problem, as well as copying commands. Appreciate any thoughts you may have.

Document had been previously scanned from the IR3000i. Had printed w/ no problems using the IR5000i before the CH H-D service mode operation was performed.
