    Programming Email Settings

Appreciate anyone's assistance on setting the email settings to send an image from the IR3300i to an email address. Having a problem re-inputting values since the system was reset. I know the TCP/IP settings are correct as can ping the copier & the browser is permitting me to set values.

My internet provider gave me the DNS Server IP Address & Secondary Server, as well as the Host Name & Domain Name.

Also, set the SMTP Server & POP Server in the email/fax settings menu. However, system still showing an error to my email address (input in address book) trying to send faxes & scanned images to. Worked before, but am not sure if I am inputting all the values that are required to make this work.

    Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

If you are inputting them via the web browser you still have to "lock" them in by switching OFF/ON power with the main switch on the right rear side.

Also, when you ISP gave you the "host" name, that shouldn't be put in the copier. You can give the copier any name you want.

Thanks D L P. Was doing the on/off switch (I guess like your desktop computer), but am still getting a message to check my server. Am pretty confounded about the settings now. Tech had reset the settings causing them to be erased, but I cannot seem to get the emails to send again.

Is there anything in the service mode that should be checked? Thank you.

No nothing in service mode will help.

As DLP mention, does the machine have a email address.

Check the server means to check your credentials settings from your workstation. They do not match.

What are you using to retrive your email?

Here's a list of things to double check. The following steps will allow you to send and receive E-mail:

        1. Make sure you have all of your TCP/IP information set up (IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS Server (if one), Host Name, and Domain name of your Domain) before you begin.
        2. Enter into the Network Settings and Select E-mail/I-Fax.
        3. If you are setting this up for SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) to send E-mail and I-Fax, enter the IP address or Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of your mail server in the SMTP Server section. For example: mail_server.organization.company.com. Then enter the email address that will be the default sender in the SMTP Address field.
        4. If you use POP3 and want to receive e- imageRUNNER mail and I-Faxes, fill in the IP address or FQDN of your POP3 server and the account added for the imageRUNNER-iR. The password is optional and needs to be entered if set on the e-mail account of the imageRUNNER-iR. Set the POP interval (how often the machine will log in and check for mail).
        5. Reboot the device.
        * Note - AUTHENTICATION ISSUES -
-If the SMTP mail server requires authentication for sending email, enter Encryption/Authentication login information (SMTP authentication via a username and password).
        - For the models that do not support SMTP authentication, the administrator will need to set up a SMTP Relay.

          An ounce of prevention...

This subject is near and dear to my heart...

I don't know how many times I have preached this among my co-workers,, after a copier is correctly set up and functioning properly, a set of prints needs to be made to insure that you can restore a copier to functioning properly after some catastrophic event like hard drive failure, a Service Mode Clear, or operator finger pokus event. Under additional functions, report settings, network user data, fax user data, send user data, address books, also a p-print or label print of the adjustment settings in service mode.

These documents need to be maintained in order for an easy solution to just such a problem as listed here. Make it part of your service routine to insure that these printouts exist at every copier site. Then, when you have a problem, you can consult these to determine what is incorrectly set. This should be done not only on your own equipment, but everyone's accounts.

The butt you save may be your own someday!!!

            Here, here.

Was able to find the problem - the DNS had to have "0" before a 1 or 2 digit value. Problem corrected & back to work.

            Thanks guys!
