I would think that there would be a ton of authorized Canon dealers in NYC.

There are many, but a person like Helpmepleaze. I'm sure he's looking for a bargain.

No doubt you're right, Screwtape; I thought about that not too long after I posted my comment.

Looking for techs who do work "on the side" is always bad medicine.

Oh, well, that's a topic for another thread.

A blast from the past. I worked with a lot of people from LDI when we were Leslie before Danka. Still talk to a few of them every now and then.

If it only happens when using the document feeder ..........

More details and perhaps a picture and maybe someone can offer suggestions and save a service call.

Sounds like possibly its a real easy fix. Clean your glass. Download the "Reference guide" for your machine for free from the Canon website and the chapter entitled Routine maintenance will have a section entitled Routine cleaning. Read it & do the cleaning. Actually, you might have a label on the glass already that explains how to do this.

When looking for a "Bargain",,, you quite often get exactly what you paid for.

Go with the pro's, and get your service legit and out in the open so you can get them to honor their labor/parts warranty if need be!
