What kind of density are we talking about?

When you print black, is it the same ratio as the color or less?

What kind of paper are you using?

You say its jamming but where? Is it a fuser jam? Are you a technician? If it is jamming in the fuser (the hot rollers) I like screwtape wonder what kind of coverage or density we are taking about. Need more information to help you. Are you comparing apples with apples? What I mean is if the b&w copy is mostly text and your color copies that jam are large color images its no wonder that it can pass the b&w copies. I'll bet its time for service call on the fuser assy.

if you are not a Tech./by telling you how to get in service mode will accomplish nothing/ you will not be able to understand the codes even if they are explained here. best Advise = call for Service/ choose a Canon Authorized Service Company if available in your area.

Don't waste your time with posting pics or getting the jam code.... obviously the fuser needs to be adjusted or serviced or rebuilt or replaced. Follow Teckats advice and call for service & be done with the problem my friend. A well trained tech can tell you if you need a new fuser or not.

If your location is as you post MIAMI, FL/ I can't believe there are no Canon service tech's available

Look in Yellow Pages for Copier service

or Call 1-800-OK-CANON , they will find an authorized Service company for u at your location

Good Luck, 3220 Fuser is easy to replace/ two screws hold it down

                          FUSER..JPG
                          Removing the Fixing Unit
1)Slide out the fixing feeder unit.
                          2) Remove the 2 screws [1], and detach the
                          fixing unit [2].

make sure to swap green pressure release arm if new one does not come with one

                          arm..JPG
when u need to remove jam in fuser /advise customer to release arm pressure/ it separates heat rollers a bit for easy removal of paper/ then return back up/ some customers rip out paper/ a piece will get stuck /they power it up /piece wraps around upper inside part of fuser/can cause smears/ to remove u have to dis- assembly unit/ very hard if u never tried it before.

Like Teckat said - easy to replace. Assuming ,of course that you need a fuser assembly and don't have something else going on.....which is why a service call would be preferred...That way you won't buy a high priced item you don't need. The assembly can be bought at precisionroller.com/ for $520 or maybe you can find one online cheaper but I would caution you to only use a brand new oem fuser , not a rebuilt unit someone might sell on the cheap. The only adjustment you might need to familiarize yourself with is nip width and then reset the counters for the fuser items under durables in service mode. If you are going to be servicing your own machine I would buy the service manual online. It's cheap and has the info you need . Good Luck.
