    E743 = DDI communication error
0001 =The reader controller PCB detects communication error
between the main controller PCB and the reader
    controller PCB.
Disconnect and then connect the reader communication
    cable connector/while machine is off.

    Never heard of a E742 Code !!

U need a crossover cable/connected from printer to laptop.

When u replace a HDD on an imageRunner, you First need the Canon SST Tool loaded on a Laptop/then u need the iR3480 Firmware loaded in SST Program, then u need to use the HDD-Format file ver. for said model to format HDD first, before the machines Firmware is loaded on it.
After u format HDD/ select ALL-HDF in models firmware screen

Firmware for France is supported / latest is v92.05

thank you very much for your reply

      I disconected the reader cable,
I replace the controller pcb, the dc-con and the hard disk
I download the V92.05 with SST with all hdf
V92.05 is supported for the c3480? I thought that there was another version...?
I don t understand the probleme, I have everything replaces, I think
do you have a c3480 in your compagny? Could you say to me which version goes "engine kind" (factory mode) has l origin on one c3480 to compare with one c3580, the model we have here in France

thank you very very very much for your help
You are very nice help to me

sorry for the quality of my english....

why did u waste time replacing those expensive parts ??

that is latest firmware for it
        u have a 3580/ u said u had a 3480 ??

did u FORMAT that HDD first with the HD Format file v00.09 under the 3480 SST firmware window.
        Make sure u select iR3380_V3_v92.05
in there u will see the HD Format file/ and the ALL_HDF
if u did not Format HDD first in SST/ your machine will never work
where did u buy that HDD Unit/ not all generic off the shelf hard drives are compatible with Canon imageRunners

          hello

I have return c3480 into my workshop, into my workshop I have one c3580 (c3580 work correctly)
I took cards and hard disk of 3580 and I them is put on 3480, for being sure, I prefer re-install the system v92.05 with the sst, all hdf, and I always have E743 code and E742 code
I think there is anything is different between the 3480 model us and 3580 model europe
It s why I would like to have the version of the engine kind of one c3480 of origin because it does not display on my 3480 which is out of order, I would have like compare it with that one c3580 because I think that a card is different between our models 2, can give me yourselves this information? is it possible?

thank you very much for your help
          best regards

where did u receive this 3480 from/ it may have had electrical issues before.

Did you print out a P-Print / Data Print for 3580 before you removed it's HDD/ what was the firmware ver on 3580 before u removed it ?
You took out a working 3580 HDD, that had good firmware installed/ put it in a machine that had a E602 issue/ overwritten it's working firmware.
do u now have two machines that do not function ??

You should put back the Boards you removed from 3480/ put them back in
next/put back the original HDD you removed from 3480/ do HD CHECK on it/ while hold down 1 & 9 key _turn on 3480 wait to see if it goes in download screen with white blocks dropping in sequence/ takes about 30min./ if it finishes ok/ re-load 3480 firmware with selecting the ALL / if u receive an error 602- do a format of HDD, then a ALL-HDF

            never heard of a E742
like i said the E743 is from that READER CABLE/ u need to unplug 3480/ then remove & re attach cable/plug back in

it may be time to get a Canon trained service tech to inspect your issues

when I say to CANON france he says me that the c3480 don t exist in europe market and he don t help me
it s why, I seek the solution in the usa... it s the 3nd site that I try but impossible of find A technician who has one 3480 in stock or to one customers to give me the values engine kind, because if these values are not same the probleme never could be resolve it means that c3480 and c3580 aren t the same copiers, do you have a c3480? could you tell me if the value are the same?

The Firmware Ver. 92.05 is the same for iR C3580/3580i/3480/3480i/3080/3080i/2550/2550i.
**There could be an issue with AC compatibility in your country/ Your USA 3480 is most likely set as a 120v
                Your 3580 is
                a 220-240V AC, 50/60Hz

**For the most part the 3480 and 3580 are the same machine/ take a look at the main plugs for both/ your 3580 is a 220-240v supply/ the USA 3480 is a US standard 120v machine

                The HDD part number>FM2-8258-000
                is the same for>iR C3580/3580i/3480/3480i/3080/3080i/2550/2550i/2380i.

Pardon me, but Canon France is a jerk for giving you that answer. There are plenty of USA made models overseas in many countries.
There could be an issue with AC compatibility in your country/ Your USA 3480 is most likely set as a 120v
Your 3580 is most likely set as 230v .

I check the parts manual for>
                iR C3580/3580i/3480/3480i/3080/3080i/2550/2550i/2380i./

                The Different parts between 120v iR3480 and 230v iR3580, are below>
                ALL DAY POWER PCB ASSEMBLY
                MAIN POWER SUPPLY PCB ASSEMBLY
                CONTROL PANEL ASSEMBLY-230V CN/EUR/KR
                PANEL, for CONTROL PANEL-230V CN/EUR/KR
                POWER CORD TERMINAL ASSEMBLY-230v

                MODEM PCB ASSEMBLY-iR C3580F/3080F/2550F

                In other words the
iR C3580/3580i/3480/3480i/3080/3080i/2550/2550i/2380i./are all the same except for listed parts for 3580 230v EUR printer/ there are some different parts for some CN/AU/ASIA countries.

There is a reason they label them a 3480 and 3580

Screwtape has hit the nail on the head. The issue is the difference between 60Hz (3480 - US) and 50Hz (Europe). Although you can use a transformer for the voltage - it cannot change the Hz. The motors on the 3480 (in Europe) will turn slower and screw up the timing. Many years ago I had to deal with the Hz issue and the only viable solution I found was to "frankenstine" a UPS system that took in the 220/50 and charged a battery backup unit (not a store bought kind) that fed an inverter that output 120/60. Even that would develop interesting issues every so often.

someone in USA will buy for use or parts
