IR2800 skewed feed tray1, broken plastic spring retainer tab

Fig 310 in pc depicts only one spring idler roller and does not number the plastic guide as a spared part. I could likely pull the assy and repair by drilling a small hole and inserting a self tapping screw to hold the spring if I could figure out how to safely remove the pick-up mount assy. I removed the mount screws from the lwr right side but it appears much more is holding the assy in. Don't want to break anything. Any advice or experience?

    Hi Xeriod,

You need to take out the whole PPU/Mount assy. Then ideally replace the PPU or use the following field part.

There's another screw to at the top right of the ppu recessed further in. Get a longer screwdriver and find that screw and it should come out fine.

It has been a long time, and I only had to do it once,,, but doesn't the replacement bracket simply pinch in over the existing plastic guide area? I don't recall having to remove the paper feed assembly to make this repair. I know they used to make a left hand as well as right hand repair clip.

I believe you are correct. I Don't know why the whole ppu would need to be removed to perform this repair.
