u can not Format a dead HDD/ WASTE OF TIME> u need to buy a new HDD/ & search online for adapater

A workaround is to use a PCMCIA Cardbus to Parallel Port Adapter AND an IEEE1284 Parallel cable.

i am trying to format a new drive

You can use the parallel or crossover cable. If you have a parallel cable, just connect it to the computer and put your machine in download mode (turn on the machine while pressing the 2&8). Run the sst then select the 2200i, then under the Interface select Bi-centro to connect. Then select HD format then Start and so on. If the format is successful, turn off your machine. Turn it on then put it in download mode again and load the System. After loading the system, load also the RUI. (And that's it)

Now if you are using the crossover cable (which I didn't try on this model). You should know the IP address of your machine. Because you cannot assign an IP address if you have a 602 error. In this situation, I will remove a working HDD from other machine and put the same to the 602 error machine so that I can assign an IP address. (I will always use 172.16.1.100 if I am using the crossover cable and 172.16.1.10 on the computer)

So after that, connect the crossover cable then execute PING. If the ping is successful, run the sst then select 2200i, then under the Interface select Network then type the IP address of your machine then click Register. Then click start. Then follow the procedure above!!!!
