    Hi Mate,
I thjink you can use a 40g IDE HDD,but you will need the Canon service support tool to format this drive and then load the firmware for irc3200.BUT to format the 40g drive the format utility has to be edited to include the model number of the drive. It may be too hard so buy the Canon Hdd,which can be formatted with the support tool easily because it is included in the description.
Why do you think the hdd is gone?

Hi Rambo40, The copier had a code E602 and it not working. Do you know what is original brand for this model, right now I have Hitachi HD in the copier, but I am not sure this is the right Brand.
Also, I need SST, software, and firmware for this model, can you share with me if you have it. Thanks

Canon was using Toshiba for many units, This is the problem with Canons. I have one customer who went through three hard drives in a years span on a ir3320i

I know one thing if you buy a hard drive from the computer store it better be compatable or you will get the red failure screen.

Hi pjdbm, so you think Toshiba is the original HD, and how do I know the HD is compatable with this copier? Do you know any place I can get this HD beside through Canon. Thanks

              Canon Irc3200 Hd Issue

I have used Western Digital and Seagate as replacements. Since I had a working unit I was able to make an image of the working HD and replicate.
It was then necessary to use the Canon SST program to restore funtionality.

I hope this gives some direction but it was a lot of work.

              Good Luck

Hi copyguy5, This is very interesting to me. I kind of understand the first part, you mean you ghost the HD from the working copier to any HD brand. The second part you said:
"It was then necessary to use the Canon SST program to restore funtionality."
Can you tell me more after you ghost the HD then how to use the Canon SST to restore funtionallity and what did you restore? I really interested this way. because I was thinking to do this for myself before. but I heard people said you have to buy a right HD to work with Canon copier. Thank you very much.

                  Canon IRC3200 HD

My guys say that a Toshiba hard drive from Fryes will work and is only about $100 versus the HDD from Canon which I think cost us about $450
but you need to order a special usb cable which was pretty expensive and I think you also get a program called Firehawk, this is all needed to reformatt/load drivers onto the the HDD, but to be honest it was all more trouble than it was worth, your better off replacing or exchanging and ending up with a parts machine...lol..which i thin is what we ended up doing in the end after dumping alot of time and money into it.

                      Hi Mate,

It is the cooling fan not running at the back .This is the controller cooling fan.You may have not put in the connector properly when finished with the HDD,or it may be just loose.

Yes sir, the cooling fan does not connected at all.
Thank you. Now the machine run perfectly.

The controller fan is a three wire fan...its rotation is monitored..the code means its not turning...you probably didn't plug fan back in
