I am new to this forum but not to fixing copiers and faxes. I am trying to do a search in the Canon fax forum and all the copier related problems show up when doing a search for a rom error on a LC-3170 fax. Any idea why?

Because the search function sucks - but I appreciate that you are interested finding an existing solution here.
Try using google like this (copy & paste this into google):

Next step - use just the model# keyword-combo:
Code:+"LC-3170" site:copytechnet.com
In case you can't find a solution it's OK to start a new topic. -

maybe if your not a tech you should probly call one.. I wouldent trust my self to fix the plumbing in my house if you know what i mean..you gunna eat yo corn bread?!?Comment

Try searching the canon fax forum and search the model #.
I always google Canon fax model # error code #.
The posts on this site almost always comes up first.Why do they call it common sense?
