designjet T1100 08:11 error

This DJ T1100 was move from one building to another. Then it sat there for a while. They finally turned it on, and printed one test pattern. The next day, when they turned it on, it showed 0% on the screen, stuck there for a little while, then gave 08:11 error.

I've tried reseating all the plugs & formatter in the the machine. The manual doesn't really say much about it, but just starts listing expensive boards to replace. Any thoughts on where to start?

I did notice that the PSU fan was a little loud. I've heard louder though.

Oh, and I can't get in to diagnostics mode.

Formatter. Had same error back in 2009-2010.

I know we just had this discussion, but does anyone know if a used formatter can be put into these machines?

As I understand it, you can use a used formatter but only if you put a new hard drive on it.

I've verified that you can't get into diagnostics mode with this error because the printer isn't booting far enough to get into the diags.

Try removing the battery on the formatter for 10 minutes.. put it back and try it again. If that doesn't work, try a new battery. It's a CR2032, standard 3V CMOS battery.

Battery didn't work. I've got a formatter on order from LPS... I don't see any anywhere else. I'm going to ghost copy the hard drive image before installing it. If someone wants a copy, they can message me.

Crap. Formatter didn't solve my problem. Still does the same thing. I guess the main board is next.

When you changed the formatter what did you do about the drive? Did it come with a new one, or did you put the old drive on it?

I noticed people are selling "refurbished" main PCA for this machine. Is that even possible? I thought once you install one, it's married to the machine.

Just an update: Replaced main PCA with PSU and all is fixed.

Glad to hear replacing the Main PCA Board worked (I sold it to him).
The easiest part to test is the formatter board. If that failed, the Main PCA Board needs replaced.

The Designjet T610 or T1100 service error 08:11 are a common error for these printers.

Regretfully, HP did not engineer this error code to specifically identify the part that is defective.
To HPs credit, they did engineer later models to provide more detail feedback.


Here is the frustration, the 08:11 service error requires a 'best guess' approach.


The defective part may be one of the following:


1. Defective Hard Disk
2. Defective Formatter Board
3. Defective Main Board
4. Defective Fan
5. Defective Control Panel


Replacing the HD and\or Formatter Board is easiest to trouble shoot.
Replacing the Main Board and\or Fan is time consuming with dozens of screws to remove and reassemble.
I can't personally confirm the Control Panel fixed it. Never got to #5 on the best guess list.

Can't really say what they paid, but they paid for a new formatter/HD & new Main PCA/PS. And 1.5 hour labor.
