HP M5035MFP replaced formatter now scanner failure 30.1.34, but it was ok before?

Hi everyone, my small church has a HP LaserJet M5035xs MFP (Q7831A). A year ago the formatter failed (stuck during self test before display turns on). I read that the BGA solder joints often go bad. I work at an electronics place so I ran it through a reflow oven. It worked! Yeah!
But now a year later same problem. So I decided to buy a refurbished formatter (hoping it will last more than a year). The replacement formatter makes the printer work but I get a Scanner failure 30.1.34 error. The scanner was fine before.

I followed the troubleshooting steps in the manual.
    1. Power cycle.
    2. Ribbon cable connectors reseated and I even checked continuity on all the pins.
    3. HDD gives me a directory listing so it seems ok.
    4. Replace scanner control board (SCB) or formatter.

The scanner was working fine before the original formatter failed the second time. That's why I'm puzzled. Why would the scanner that was working now be bad???The tech at the store that sold me the replacement formatter said to replace the SCB but they didn't have one. I wonder if maybe the problem is in the formatter they sold me. Is it worth putting in another $200 for a SCB if I'm not sure that it will fix it.
A lot on the SCB looks ok. The power indicators on the SCB are all on. Voltages on the board all look ok. A single heartbeat LED is flashing. It homes the scanner bar on power up. It all appears normal except the communication to the formatter.
The machine did get moved back and forth in the office several times when it wasn't working. Maybe it was too much vibration?
I'm wondering if the replacement formatter could have actually had a problem that caused the scanner to not work. But I'm not sure how to tell that without trying another one. I'm thinking about ordering both from one place if I can find someone with both in stock for a reasonable price.

I'm hoping for guidance or recommendations from the experts on this forum?
    Thanks, Dave

Does anyone have a replacement reformatter and scanner control board for sale? I'll pay for your advice also; I'd like someone's help in troubleshooting this problem. Send me a message. Thanks.

Personally, I think it's unlikely that the SCB is bad if it was working before the formatter failure. It's more likely that the replacement formatter has the issue. According to the manual, it takes 5 minutes for the data on the DCC NVRAM to copy over to the formatter NVRAM. There is no separate EEPROM chip to transfer to the new formatter.

Sorry, I don't have parts to sell you. I don't have specific experience with this model, that's why I didn't respond earlier. Were it me, I would get another formatter. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Hi Blackcat, I agree it's odd the SCB would go bad at the same time. Here's my ideas as to what's wrong:

        1. The SCB failed at the same time as the formatter. Seems unlikely.

        2. I damaged the SCB or its wiring. I did carefully check the cable. It's ok.

        3. The replacement formatter had a problem. The place that sold it said it was tested but maybe not?? Seems most likely answer.

        4. There is some initialization or configuration that needs to be done with the new formatter. I did leave it on for > 5 minutes and also did a cold reset - same problem. Anything else I could try?

        5. There is a difference in the parts I'm not understanding. There are different PNs for the formatter: Q7565-67910or -67913 - Any difference? I think they are just difference in revisions and shouldn't be causing this problem.

I had the original formatter reflowed a second time. But the temp was set too high and now I need to replace many of the electrolytic caps. I'll see if it works long enough to see if it works and the SCB is ok.

If that doesn't work I'll buy another formatter and try it.

        Any suggestions would be welcome.
        Thanks

Sounds weird, but is the scanner locked? Sometimes gives a false error.

If the FFC is okay then it sounds like you got a bad formatter.
