I have an incoming fleet of HP devices and I'm having an issue with the initial machines whereby when I set printing defaults on the Print Server (2021R2) the client machines, a mix of W10 and 2012R2 terminal servers do not receive printing defaults.
I am using GPP machine as all clients require these printers.
I am using the current as at time of writing HP Universal Print Driver PCL 6 (v7.0.1) 61.255.1.24923 and my server and clients are all running the latest windows updates.
I see references to this issue here
Print driver default settings are not inherited through - Windows Client | Microsoft Docs
and even some older mentions from copytechnet none of these solutions appear to work other than having the end user change their defaults which in a fleet my size is not suitable. The annoying thing is that my existing Ricoh fleet works completely fine and works with the print server without any issues.
So things I have tried are
different driver
firewall rules
checking GPP settings
The only thing that may not be standard is that I needed to change the default print processor from the HP one to winprint as the devices were not coming down for all clients.
Kind of think I've tried everything I can and getting a little frustrated - hoping someone has had the issue and can shine some light on a solution.
