I was called out to this machine for a banding issue. I cleaned and then aligned the printheads with no change. I then ran the paper advance calibration numerous times and got no change. I updated the firmware as the manual states and then tried the line sensor calibration, also as the manual states, and now I am getting the 79.04 error. I comes up fine on reboot but, the banding is still there and every time I run the line sensor calibration, I get this code. Do I have multiple issues going on? If I run a service page, the correct firmware version is listed. HP's manual says that hardware issues are rare but, I am leaning that way. Any thoughts?

Re: Designjet T1300 79.04 error
I'd do the EEROM Reset from the Diagnostic menu, and go from there. I would not do the paper advance calibration; nothing good comes from that, plus it MUST be done on HP Universal Instant-dry Photo Gloss. Otherwise you're just making the problem worse. So doing the EEROM reset should get you back to the factory defaults.
The line sensor shouldn't need calibration. But if you attempt it after the EEROM reset and still get a 79.04 error, let me know.
Banding issues are usually printhead related. Did you run the image diagnostic print and verify that all printheads are functioning properly?
If the printheads are OK, what media is being used? And what media type is being selected when loading?
If it's not the printheads or media, I'd probably replace the media advance drive, but note a special tool is needed when installing a replacement. I've had them out and back in without the special tool so I'm not sure how critical it is. If the drive has been replaced before, this is likely where the problem is. Usually the paper drive test will reveal an issue, but run it multiple times.
Post a picture/scan of the banding issue.

Re: Designjet T1300 79.04 error
Thanks for the info, Kiran! I was just following the steps in the manual. The customer replaced the printheads but, the blk/yellow says it is 123% of life but, it seems like Cyan is the worst. I will do the EEprom reset when I get on site, Tues. They are only there Tues/ Thurs. Here is a pic of the issue. I am using Hp photo paper for the calibrations but, the usual paper is "newspaper" stock. I keep getting an error while trying to upload the image. Bear with me!Comment

Re: Designjet T1300 79.04 error
Note down the network settings because the EEROM reset will reset the NIC.
Run the image diagnostic print and post a pic of it if you can. And newspaper stock? Eww. What media are they selecting on the front panel when they load it?

Re: Designjet T1300 79.04 error
PDF images must be ~1MB or less. Most likely your photos are of a high enough resolution that they will not load. When I got my new phone, I reduced the resolution of the camera phone to get smaller file sizes. Also, my new Android phone offers the option of attaching to email either low res, med res, or high res images. Med res images fit just fine ~1MB.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I just moved from a Galaxy S9 to a Galaxy S22, basic 6.1". Smart Switch sure made the move a lot easier.Comment

Re: Designjet T1300 79.04 error
I was finally able to get out to the site and did find that the customer "replaced" the Cyan printhead with a used one, not new as he told me. I put a brand new one in and, that took care of that problem! I also reset the EEprom and set up the network again and the error code is gone. Thanks Kiran and Blackcat! Funny, it was a chargeable call and they paid dearly for their used/new printhead!Comment

Re: Designjet T1300 79.04 error
Nice find. I don't think I've ever seen a printhead cause a 79:04 error.

Re: Designjet T1300 79.04 error
I was always under the impression that the 79:04 pops up whenever the printer gets confused and thinks it's a toaster.
I've had it come up before when I was doing a firmware update on the same model printer, usually because I was rushing something.Comment

Re: Designjet T1300 79.04 error
I've seen the 79:04 occurring at the same time as paper advance errors 81:01. When the paper advance issue was solved ... so was the 79:04. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
