477 copy.pdf477 original.pdf477 internal prints.pdf
Hi all. I have an HP M477 that does not like to print magenta very well when layered with the other colors. It looks fine on the supplies status page, where each color is printed to show how much is left, but on the demo page it looks washed out. Same thing when making a copy, or printing from the computer. Since it happens with internal prints and copies, it likely isn't the computer driver, even though that's how the customer first knew something was off. Most of what they print is in color. I have attached examples.
I have tried a new toner cartridge. I tried cleaning the laser unit, as much as I can reach (might need to remove the toner tray to get better access?). I tried replacing the transfer belt, at HP's suggestion. They also mentioned cleaning a certain sensor toward the front of the machine, but that would be a complete bear to change if it needed replacing.
Any chance it's a controller board or something that tells the machine how much of each color to use? Or, anything else that I'm missing?
Thanks!
Edited to add: it has the latest firmware.
