Yes I have removed the Dplx unit and the carriage is not jammed. However when it carriage moves to the left of the POS (printer) tries to turn the transport rollers and the cleaning station. That is when it comes up w/ paper jam. somewhere in there the gears are bound up. -
I guess you already removed the duplex unit in the rear and checked that? Also, open the top and check that the carriage is not jammed. Also, check HP's site via this link for the extent of support that HP cares to offer on these consumable printers:

There is no paper inside the printer. I believe the gears somewhere are bound up. No manual does suck big time. Thanks for your help.Leave a comment:

Either you didn't get all the paper or it's a sensor. Chances are if you got all the paper it's a sensor, look for any damaged or stuck sensor flags. Inkjets don't have a ton of sensor flags so it shouldn't be too hard but you may be looking at a bit of dis-assembly.
What sucks even worse is there almost no service manuals for HP Inkjets. It seems HP expects anyone who buys an inkjet to just throw it out if it has a problem...Leave a comment:
