    Color LJ2500 completely blank pages

As the title says, there is not a speck of toner on any page that comes out of this printer.
There are no error messages at all. I have tried stopping the printer part way through the printing process and there does not seem to be anything on the drum, transfer belt or anywhere else in the image formation section. The way this printer is put together (carousel style toner/dev units) it is very difficult to do any troubleshooting. The service manual is not much help. If it were laser related I would think it would show a beam detect error or something similar.
I will start with the laser shutter then I guess I'll start looking at voltages throughout the image formation section.

Any other thoughts or words of wisdom........aside from discussing a replacement?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

Hey, I have seen that. Except there were no copy quality symptoms. The customer just couldn't get the empty toner cartridge out.

Ok, I amend that. There may have been copy quality symptoms, but I never saw them, because it wouldn't print with the toner empty indication.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thank you for the reply and the advice. The carousel was out of alignment by two gear teeth. I re-aligned it and re-assembled after blowing out the laser unit and I still get blank pages. I used the method you described and used the service manual as a visual reference (talk about the bare minimum of info there!).
I have to leave it for now to take care of other calls. Any other ideas? Oh, I do have another unit brought in by the same customer which is identical so I could do some parts swapping if necessary.
        Thanks

Some have mentioned a solenoid on the side sticking. Some have mentioned cartridges not touching contacts. Additionally, there is roman numeral IV, V, & VI on the service note I posted, but the machine is probably not worth it.

I addressed the sticking solenoid while I was in there re-aligning the carousel just so it wouldn't be a problem in the future.
I will have a look but I don't imagine the customer will want to spend much given the price of small color laser printers these days.
            Thanks

So I did a little more troubleshooting with the covers off and discovered that the mag. rollers are not turning at all and something else is out of alignment or broken as the dev units do not line up with the drum when it is trying to make a print. I am guessing the whole carousel will need replacement which would definitely not be cost effective.

It sounds to me like the worn bushings. When the carriage can shift on the ovalled out bushings, the gear drive disengages. It's definitely not worth the trouble. You can't charge enough. =^..^=
