    cm4730

    Hello all

anyone had a cm4730 throw a 54.6 code? it's not in manual or on hp channel services. I have contacted hp and they have no record of this code.
i have cleaned the belt sensors and fully calibrated, machine is not using oem devs.

    any ideas gratefully received

Will it let you print anything? If so, do the colors look off?
Can you get into the event log? If so, are other errors listed about the same time or right before it?

Usually the 54 errors are cartridge and transfer belt related and have to do with color phase sensing. Remove all optional equipment and get the machine in a base printer state.

    1. Perform a full calibration 3 times.
    2. Replace all the cartridges.
    3. Replace transfer belt (transfer belt has color registration asm and density sensor inside it. These can cause 54 errors)
    4. Replace DC Controller

Hi Bonnie750, do you have an update on this issue yet?

prntrfxr, I'm currently having a Colour Registration (One colour, Cyan) issue on a CM4730, I've tried all the old tricks to get this back to normal (i.e. Full Calibration) but don't seem to be having any joy.

I've had a look inside the Transfer Unit but can't seem to see where the Colour registration sensor would be. There's one loom going from the Bottom Connector which only seems to control the Drive motor and 1 Solenoid. There are a number of terminals on the outside of the unit too. But I'm guessing this is for grounding purposes. Other than that I can't seem to find any particular sensors.

I believe the unit in the machine was refurb'ed, as I only replaced it last week and it's already failed!

If you have any more information on this could you PM me or reply on this thread. Your help would be greatly appreciated

The sensor is at the top. I forgot to add Replace formatter as 5.

Did you try replacing the transfer belt and cartridges?

Tried a different Transfer Belt (Unfortunately I don't have any in stock at the moment) and the problem persisted. I also only replaced the Cyan toner cartridge (Seeing as it was only an issue with one colour) and unfortunately didn't cure the fault

I've also checked the Drive mechanism for the Drum, even swapped the Toner Cartridge drive motor.

Unfortunately, like bonnie750, my client doesn't use Genuine Cartridges either.... and well... they're causing a bit of a problem all round!

A new Transfer unit's on order, along with some other parts too. They should be arriving soon so I'll let you know what I find

              Thanks for the reply.

And bonnie750, sounds like that's fixed it!
