    8550 magenta toner leaks badly

I have an HP8550 that leaks magenta toner very badly. It has had three different cartridges and all leak. Is there anything else besides bad cartridges that will cause this.

You know most answers to this

Most everyone is sitting in their seat thinking, this has to be recycled cartridges! Well, as a company that manufactures toner cartridges from scratch, we know that those cartridges are probably the worst we have ever tried to duplicate. For one thing, they have to be rocked and turned and shaken all the time, continuously within the printer, and this causes leaking. It is modified 10x by a refill or reman cartridge. As well as our 4500/4550 product, we just started molding our own plastic parts and building these like we made them. Of course we change them a little to avoid copyright laws! ... The point is, the cartridge and print design for the 8500/50 is just bad design. Thats why you don't see carousel printers anymore. Now, you are probably sitting there thinking, I could have told you that! Well, other than replacing the carousel or disassembling the printer to find an offending obstruction wiping toner before printing to the page, I suggest HP toners... Or Pitney Bowes! LOL

Agree 100% with the above post...the 8550 was a dog from day one.
and for whatever reason the magenta cartridges were always more prone to failing than any of the others.

(this seems true of the 4500/4550 as well) Although this model is a much more realiable printer and completly worth keeping in the field.

You can use compatible for the black toner and the drum unit. the colors always use oem. If you do that the machines are good cheap solution for a tabloid size color printer. They are slow as hell though.
