    HP DesignJet 1055cm Plus

    we've had an "ink explosion"

im just a junior tech with almost no experience working on HP machines

i have no service or parts manual for this machine

there is cyan ink all over the machine, the floor, the paper roll.

a different tech was out to look at this machine yesterday (senior tech, but again, no experience with HP machines) he was able to clean it up quite substantially and get the machine to feed paper but it almost instantly starting leaking cyan ink all over the place.

any help at all would be excellent,
    thanks.

You need an ink tube system, easy to replace, and a manual.

so this machine isnt completely toast? i do not know very much about ink jet anything... i didnt know they could make such a mess.

a common issue with these plotters? how often does an "ink tube" system fail?

thanks for a point in the right direction!

It's usually a gasket where the tube system joins the cartridge holder (part of the assembly, but not available separately). Once it starts leaking it just pours out. Be sure to read up on the purge, to clear the air from the tubing. And bring lots of alcohol and towels, and you'll still be blue to your ears for a week. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Also make sure they do not use after market ink. I am doing a newer plotter now in which the cheap dye bleeds onto the paper.

Buy an ink tube system. Problem solved.
