HI, A client's HP CP3525 colours are all out of alignment. The Black is fine. Is there a way to re-align the colours? Cannot find anything in the service manual (...or have I missed it?). Thanks.

Re: HP CP3525 Colour alignment out
Check the condition of your primary transfer belt. Most persistent color registration problems come back to inconsistent driving of the belt. Maybe the belt is torn, maybe the belt is riding off the edge of the pulleys, maybe the belt cleaning mechanism is dragging it down. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

if color toner is refilled , it may be oem toner chip caused by calibration errorBlack is Kyocera , Color is Gestetner.Comment

Re: HP CP3525 Colour alignment out
Been through that. Does not matter OEM or non-OEM cartridges. I was told, it was like that from day 1.
See attached picture. Note that the colours are not in the box. The centre is aligned, if a bar of magenta runs across the page, the left is down and the right is up with the centre ok.Attached FilesComment

Re: HP CP3525 Colour alignment out
I think laser scanner unit or transfer belt does not original position. .it may be out of 1 - 2 mm
check screw of laser unit and re-install transfer belt.
this error did not of toner.Black is Kyocera , Color is Gestetner.Comment

Re: HP CP3525 Colour alignment out
Regardless of the model HP color printer the parts involved in a calibration process are:
Cartridges
Transfer Belt
Density/Color Registration Sensor
DC Controller
The sequence of troubleshooting should be in order on the list above. Certain machines have weaknesses in one or more of the above list. Cartridges play a large role. One color can effect other colors. USE your PQ Troubleshooting pages in the Diagnostic/Troubleshooting menu to isolate colors. Use the Diagnostic Test Page to check alignment of colors. The laser scanner really has nothing to do with calibration.
Locations of the sensor is important. Sometimes the sensor just needs to be cleaned or blown out (toner drops on the lenses a lot)
The sensor in some units like the 3600/3800/CP3505 are in the transfer belt.
The sensor in the 4600 is under the control panel at the top of the printer
The sensor in the 4700 is in the p/u assembly
HOW CALIBRATION WORKS
The printer puts blocks of color on the transfer belt and passes them over the sensor. The sensor relays information back to the DC controller. The DC Controller adjust voltages accordingly, then reads the results of the change back from the sensor. The sensors measure for toner density and alignment. If a density sensor has failed, sometimes it can cause dark images or blank pages. If the alignment sensor has failed it will cause blurred print because of colors not lining up properly. Each cartridge developer roller is a different diameter. Therefore alignment is necessary to time all the colors to start and stop in the same place on the page. The 4600 series have pins at the bottom that can get misshapen due to heat. This can cause the cartridges to sit differently in the printer and eventually cause image problems. DC controller failure would cause the adjustments not to be made or to be made incorrectly.
I hope this helps you. Understanding how things work can help us resolve issues. Each service manual has a section (usually Theory) explaining how that model works. The service manual for that printer should help you know where to look and begin to resolve that issue.Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment
