The 49 series error codes can be somewhat difficult to figure out, but from what I've seen it is usually from a badly formatted print job. That's just me, though.
Still, what is the machine printing when the error code occurs?

Update the firmware and print drivers. Try a factory reset. If you are printing from web or pdf try a different app. Try a new network cable and tesy with your laptop. If stoll failing try a formatter.

I think ELMTECH, gave you good directions there. DID YOU UPDATE THE FIRMWAR? . I would do that first and then see what happens.
However i would not be quick to replace formatter .

Seems you are correct. see the following links below for some who encountered this problem and their fix. It seems like a rather long time for this update to run and complete. There is one guy there who mentions he has use the ftp method. read his procedure and its all up to you. I have never done upgrade on this model.
I use the ftp method, as it is simple and never had a problem for me. Maybe someone else has some other ideas.

                    Re: HP 4015X

I have been running into this error a lot lately. Just out of curiosity, what is the customer printing?

The times I see it error it seems to be a web page from internet explorer. Take the same page and print from firefox all is fine. Along with the firmware upgrade (don't worry about removing accessories, never had an issue with any of the HP line), as suggested earlier, I find it a must to update the print driver as well.

Also on the rare occasion I have seen the occasional computer that is set to bypass said print server that causes the issue. May need to hunt for that machine. Good luck.

That seems to be a problem on the 4015 series. You must remove all accessories before a firmware upgrade
