Hi everyone

i have a hp laserjet 4015 with labels screwing from the third tray. The image is skewed only on labels but the paper is straight.
plain paper is fine in all trays including the third. But when labels are used the image is skewed.

Machines has done 591k prints. Feed tyres are replaced.

Dont nut have any experience on these hp

How do you know if the labels are going in straight? I think the image is straight and the paper is being skewed. Check the paper registration assembly for wear.
The paper alignment flapper might be stuck in the up position. The paper registration assembly align the paper before reaching the toner cartridge.
Feeding labels from tray 2 or 3 is highly not recommended. Labels are to be used from tray 1.

I reread your original post. If the labels are not skewing but the image is, maybe non standard or a bad batch of labels. Tried them in tray 1 just to see if you still have the skewing?

1) Rollers Good?
2) Torque Limiter Good?
3) Solenoid may stick but that would give you multi-feeding. Is that what is happening? Is it feeding more than one sheet at a time? Clean off the foam pad on the solenoid and replace it (same thickness), if that is the case.

Good way to check 2 is swap tray 2 and 3 and see if the problem follows the tray or stays with the p/u asm.

Roller have been replaced.

labels are printing slightly skewed by a few mil. When I place plain in tray 2 and 3 it's prints straight which is perfectly fine.

I havent swapped paper paper trays round yet or the torque limiter.

see if tray 2 works. If its ok I would try replacing the paper feed solenoid inside the tray 3 or replace tray 3 complete unit

I agree. Customer has been using tray 3 for years

And therein lies the most confounding and irritating question ever encountered by any tech working on any equipment ever - are the manufacturer's published specs wrong, or was the equipment's user just lucky for a while?

XXX Labels " LABELS are SCREWING"!!!

Note: Specs say that Labels are to be fed from tray 1 only; Prolly too thick for wrap around

I agree. Customer has been using tray 3 for years
