have one of these that i had used as a loaner and at it's last stop-a tax preparer- it was randomly printing really light to completely blank on certain lines on printed pages, some are perfect. hooked it up in my office and it does the same thing. is there any known issue like this with these? i do believe that the firmware is up to date, i think i updated it when it was at the accountants office. all oem supplies. thanks--tuey

Re: FS-2100 PRINT QUALITY
After generic toner, I'd say primary charge roller and/or drum unit. These machines tend towards random light bands crossfeed well before the PM kit comes around. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: FS-2100 PRINT QUALITY
That printer series has a developing unit clutch that I have seen slip many times. Just replace it and don't bother trying to clean it. Make sure you get the correct one as the registration clutch is right there in the same pack. I think the developer clutch is the on towards the back of the machine.Comment

Re: FS-2100 PRINT QUALITY
update, finally got to spend some time with these printers. it's not that its missing random lines - they are not able to reproduce some lines and small highlights on the invoices. switched drum/dev units between the 2 machines - no change. was switching parts and machines at customer location and tried all options, still just a bit faded.so i suspect optics and removed -looked clean- cleaned anyway. did this at shop so i have not been able to test with customer documents, next week. all oem toner drums - 1 machine has 600 prints the other 16k. is the print quality known to be light on this series? thanks-- tueyComment

Re: FS-2100 PRINT QUALITY
No.
In this order:
Generic toner
Charge roller
Drum unit
As the components age (time, not necessarily by print count), you tend to see more banding crossfeed. If your customer bought this machine for 11% halftones they'll probably be disappointed.

Re: FS-2100 PRINT QUALITY
both oem toners so i might just have to replace a roller and drum to see. i forgot to ask them about their 11% halftone use when i sold it. not a fan of the kyo printers, almost all the models i've sold have had design flaws of some sort. i personally prefer the hp brand to these- less problems more profit-- the kinda things that keep me doing this for a living/hobby. thanks for the help--tueyComment

Re: FS-2100 PRINT QUALITY
other than aftermarket i dont see and primary charge rollers sold, wouldn't that be part of the drum unit? i've found a full maint kit reasonable but if age kills these parts how will i know when the kit was manuafacured, is it marked on box? thanks--tueyComment

Yes, you can get the primary charge separate, or with the drum unit, or as part of the PM kit. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
