Yes. PDF data maybe be transmitted directly to Port 9100, FTP, or POP3 without driver involvement or in driver pass through mode.
Any ‘Ready to print’ data (PDF, JPG, BMP, or TIFF) will be rendered by the print engine.

Postscript data contained in the PDF is processed via KPDL (Kyocera’s emulated Postscript).

True ‘Adobe’ postscript emulation is NOT available on this model, only those supporting a Fiery controller option (A3 models).

AS400 is special case. IBM/AS400 has many configurations for print data stream.

"Native" must be defined as one of the common AS400 output formats. The 'supported' (and documented) AS400 printing method is to create an OUTQ using an HP4 PCL emulation. Please refer to the attachment for details.

The other IBM/AS400 outputs are unique to IBM and could be either SCS, AFP, or IPDS. Not only are these written in special print language from IBM, even the character set in IBM is different.

While most computers use ASCII to turn 1's and 0's into text, IBM uses something called EBCDIC so even the things that should look like text come out as jibberish.

In those cases, you need a 3rd party Protocol Converter to convert SCS/AFP/IPDS to PCL/PS. e.g.:I-O 5735e Ethernet-in/-out IPDS Print Server | Argecy

If the OUTQ is not successful and you still get jibberish, perform MM977 capture and we can analyze what you are getting.AS400SETUPDOCENII.pdf
