Lexmark c746 - Help! Can't close front door!

My old laser sometimes complains there's no black, normally I open the front door and close it firmly and this clears the error.
When i did that yesterday I found I can no longer close the front door - when the photoconductors meet the toner cartridges there seems to be a clash and the door won't close any further. I've taken out and reinstalled all the toner cartridges and photoconductors and they all seem to be seated correctly. Is this a known occasional issue? Can anyone suggest a solution?

Sorry I couldn't see how to edit the original title to say it was solved. Turns out one or more of the door catches were dropping to the closed / locked position while the door was open. I shall try a bit of WD40
