    OKI ES3640 Does not recognise finisher

    It seems a tech disconnected the finsher while working on the machine. Since reconnecting, the machine does not see the finisher. I assume he switched everything off before disconnecting.... but wonder if he turned the machine on before reconnecting and the machine booted as a stand alone unit?... Does this machine require the configuration to be re entered if this is the case?? and how would I do this?

    Any help greatly appreciated!!!

      This Oki uses connectors very similar to serial monitor cables. It is very common to damage the connector for the display screen, so that it freezes. Sometimes re-seating the connector helps. For the display screen I was able to buy a serial monitor cable to solve my problem. I know the finisher connector is a little different, but that is where I would focus. =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Machine fixed... Sorry for the delay posting.

        Attended with the tech and found machine would jam at the inverter exit, entering the finisher on the last copy of a run. if the finisher was removed, the machine would feed into the exit tray without jamming, but would run slowly(!).
        Eventually the machine was removed by our tech to the nearest Oki facility and after a complete stripdown and 4+ hours faultfinding by their workshop tech (changing boards, fuser, etc) the fault was found to be the transparency sensor. It seemed the sensor had failed and was detecting transparencies constantly which slowed the machine down, reduced the fuser temp making the machine cycle when normal stock fed and caused the misdetection on the last sheet. If the transparency detection was turned off the machine would run normally. I believe a fault was found with another sensor as well (double detection?). Both sensors changed and the machine ran perfectly.

        We were close!! having determined the fault something was to do with media / fusing, but had only changed the paper thickness modes on the trays!
