Replace the feed rollers in the tray.
Worn sep causes the paper to feed an extra sheet that throws off the timing.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Try first replacing the black pad on the synchro roller solenoid and relube the clutch. All machines of these series have EXACTLY the same error. Machine in the picture is a MC-2490MF but construction (not location) of the solenoid for the MC-2430 is similar.

Location of the synchro clutch and solenoid however is hard to reach and will take for the first time one hour labor.

Thank you Hans. Replaced that solenoid with one from a 2590. Works like a champ. The input from everyone was much appreciated.

Glad if I could help. Hopefully you took the opportunity to re-lube the clutch itself as well.

I have a 2490MF and probably the same problem : paper is not fully printed (offset of 4 centimeters above the sheet).the sheet is not completely ejected from the printer
the error message "paper jam" appears.
do you think it's the same problem ?

                  Incredible! It works!
My little black pad was not at all sticky ... I put tape around and that's it!
I don't not understand what has changed but it works ... thank you!
