A survey of copier shipping companies

    Hi,

I haven't seen a question on this but I feel it is important and relevant.

What are some of the shipping companies that your dealerships use to ship copiers? How do you feel about them, is the cost good, do they damage a lot?

    My response:

We used to use North American Van Lines many years ago. Prices were ok but they gave problems when filing damage claims.

I have yet to try but have heard good things from dealers out west that Schock Logistics is supposed to be good. Copiers are supposed to be about all they deal with, machines don't need boxed or palletized, they pick up, use blankets, and use air ride vehicles. I'm a little disgusted on the shipping cost (although I suppose everybody is charging ridiculous rates these days on account of gas.)

Anyone know of a better alternative?

We use North American for lease return stuff that is no in a box. And we have been using UPS Freight for our LTL for a while now, they give us good discount and they have some great tracking tools.

        Shipping

I am very bias because My brother owns this company but check rates from TTR Shipping.

The owner was a salesman from United Van Lines for 8 years before he started his own company.

You can get a quote at www.ttrshipping.com.

Sorry if this was considered soliciting, but I know you will be satisfied.

        Peace,

        Mark

            shipping companies

sorry to have such a late reply..

So what I gathered was North American, TTR, UPS Freight..

So my question is who has used these companies? Any feedback on how these companies stack up against each other?

Also are their any other companies other then these that handle copier shipments? I can't see only 4 companies dealing with all the copiers in the US.. lol. anyway everyones input is very much appreicated.

most of the time it is for lease returns, sometimes a customer need a machine shipped to another location.

              Missed it by that much.

Not All Copier Shipping Companies Are Alike

When shipping copiers, it's important to realize that not all copier shipping companies are alike. Many so-called end-of-lease copier logistics companies are simply brokers, without trucks or drivers of their own. As brokers, their liabiity is limited if the copier is lost or damaged in transit.

Better to ship with a reputable carrier like Allied Van Lines. Allied provides padded van transportation service for copiers on their own fleet of air-ride equipped trucks. They'll pick up and deliver anywhere in the country. Inside service with two-person crews is standard.

Been a while since I posted this forum, maybe can get more input but have some updates.

We no longer use Schock Logistics. We had a problem filing a claim when their drivers didn't pick up about $3,000 worth of color drums that came with a machine. They never paid or assumed any liability even though we paid for insurance.

We found another company but haven't used them, Copy Carriers out of California. Good response time on quotes but they may only do COD. They have failed to respond to whether or not they accept prepay on credit cards. COD might be good for some people but is unacceptable on shipping to someone and paying large amounts of cash here locally. If we get an answer I'll update my post.

Re: A survey of copier shipping companies

Well it looks like TTR Shipping is not going to pay our claim. They REALLY damaged stuff and toners were missing too. I found out they steal them from lease returns and sell them on ebay. Getting the run-a-round so we filed a credit card charge back on them. Hopefully that goes through. I'll post pics and details when it's all done with.
