Printer ran out of color toner so set print settings to Print black only. Received color toners and replaced. Reset settings back to color but printer will not printer in color. Check all settings in computer properties settings and in printer settings on Printer; all set to color but will print only in black. Any suggestion would be appreciated

• The output is too light
• Toner smears or print comes off
• Random spots/Blurred images
• The entire output is blank

If you are using non-Dell brand toner cartridges, enable the Non-Dell
Toner option.
a Launch the Tool Box, and click Service Tools on the Printer
Maintenance tab.
The task is complete. Go to action 3.
b Ensure that the On check box under Non-Dell Toner is selected.
Does this solve your problem?

Are you using non- del toner ???, if not then go back and check if the colours are enabled. print a supplies status page, it should show the toner levels.

This is a neat printer from what i see in the manual, even allowing to use aftermarket toner, and an entire pm kit by the end user. Dell is thinking above the rest for the home user. cool.

What else did you do ?. the user manual for this machine is 578 pages and has quite a bit of technical tools you can try. Your reply is quite dull i must say. The suggestion i gave you came all from the manual and i just copied and paste here. Your title. suggest to me you are tech
You did not mention if you printed the status page, it must show the toner levels even in black. I saw quite a few pages the can assist you, but you have to go and search on your own. You have to learn to troubleshoot and show some zeal in your replies. Your reply is like a secretary who is just about to go home.
IF you show some things you noticed or looked at, at what page ect, then things can go futher, but in future i would not be replying to these dead end replies.
But in fairness, you did reply and that is the right thing. I said this, so that all who post with no-content i would not reply. ok guys don't be too hard on me now.

To initialize the non-volatile (NV) memory. After executing this function and rebooting the printer, all the menu
parameters are reset to their default values.
Values:
User Fax Section Initialize Initializes the fax number entries in the Address Book.
User Scan Section Initialize Initializes the e-mail and server address entries in the Address Book.
User Account Section Initialize Initializes the user registration information.
System Section Initialize Initializes the system parameters.

Ok, i just had a coffee and back to normal. Print the status page and see what levels the toners are at. the machine must be seeing it full or will give warning or error messages. If they look at full level, remove the drum again and reinstall, pushing them firmly in.
Is this the first time replacing the drum and toner?. If all you did was disable the colour, then there is no reason that the new toner does not work unless it is defective, yes new drum/toner can be defective, it happens.

so when you post your rplies, hopefully it is solved and if not give some information or call dell

Good morning Subaro,
I follow the instructions and suggestions you posted from the manual, but even tho output is set to color it still prints black. I even reinstall over the printer drivers but no improvements.
I printed a test sample from the Tool box and it printed all right colors but will not print color when a color print is sent from Printer

Just got an update from a fellow tech who was assisting with the problem. By updating firmware and resetting settings, color printing is now possible
