    Ricoh SP 4310N /Quality Issue

    Hi
It is a machine with 500 copies I just set up.The Quality starts out perfect
but after a 1000 prints or so it appears to overtone ,causing gritty prints with backround.
If I replace the cartridge the same thing happens.IM using OEM cartridges.I have been thru
4 cartridges already. It seems to progressively get worse ,meaning it starts out clean, but gets worse as printer is used.
I have never had to make any adjustments on this model. The firmware is the latest.Any help is appreciated
    Thanks in Advance, Andy

    more info needed:

    is waste toner filling up?
    what are they printing?
what do the SM sheets say about bias - coverage etc.
is it spilling inside the machine?

Pulling developer to the drum and then to the ITB, then the copy paper is a sign of excessive under toning and adjusting to compensate for or a mismatch between toner and developer. OEM does not mean Genuine Ricoh and never had. If you are not using Genuine Ricoh, you are asking for trouble. It will ultimately cost you much more.

Heed Slimslob's advice. This printer uses an AIO cartridge. DO NOT cheap out and use anything other than a Genuine Ricoh AIO. There is NO SAVINGS by trying to cut corners because of cost.

SP4310 has no waste bottle or ITB. Yes only use genuine cartridge.

What's your part number for AIO? 402809 (Ricoh) or 402812 (Savin) is what we order, and they always go to yield, roughly 15k.
Gritty could mean developer leaking or poor fusing heat. Can you rub the toner off of the paper after it comes out?

Thanks for all the help.I have used these cartridges on 3 others 4310s.They are GENUINE RICOH 406997.Never had any problems and these ae different batches.
The machine is not dumping toner, and does not rub off.It just seems to gradually overtone causing black shadiness.
              THanks Andy

send them back to Ricoh for warranty - I've sent several back for similar issues

                  Hi
Sorry ,I do not know what the shading on the top 1/3 of the copy is,even though when I put new cartridge
in it works for about 500 -700 copies.
BUT THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE CARTRIDGE.I have had 4 cartridges all oem in the machine from different sources
and the problem returns after a few 100 copies

I take it that means they are not Genuine Ricoh. As such they do not go through the same quality control.

If they do not say Genuine Ricoh on the box, they are not.

It is only Genuine Ricoh if that is printed either on the cartridge or the box. OEM only means that it meets the Original Equipment Manufacturer specifications for contents. It does not mean that it meets the quality control Ricoh places on what they provide. The only after market toner that matches or beats Ricoh's standards also charge as much or more as Ricoh. In addition you stated that you have products from 4 different suppliers.
