    Ricoh CL7000 with error SC819

    Hi all

    Just thought I would get some advice before I attended a CL7000 with error SC819 6469 0x736B5F75?

I believe it relates to the HDD?

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Thanks

Get help and support with Ricoh products and services. Find information, download software, drivers and manuals, submit meter readings, register your Ricoh products or get in touch.

It relates to a bad sector on the HDD.
Firmware upgrade may sort your problem.
    Attached RTB.
    Hope this helps

Firmware update must be done with a ricoh tool and PCMCIA memory cards.

Have you tried to format the HDD?

Enter service mode (press and hold arrow up AND down for a few seconds and then press enter) -> engine > HDD format must be within the SP5xxx category.

If that doesn't help you might replace the HDD or remove it completely (I think it was an option wich is not required by the machine). Removing the HDD might degrade the performance depending of the printjob sizes.

              Thanks all

Can anyone send me the 'Ricoh tool' (im guessing its software) and I can buy a PCMCIA Card.

              I would also need the firmware. . . .

              Many thanks

How come? Are you not a Ricoh dealer?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                Hit it.

Sorry, this tool isn't freeware and it's also an outdated pain in the ass wich might not work with every mainboard chipset/pcmcia controller configuration.

Besides that: I also don't see what a (probably) faulty HDD has to do with the firmware. These kind of issues do just happen if the machines are getting older. The firmware isn't installed on the HDD so even if you remove or replace it there will be no need to re-install the firmware.

At the end you have these options:

                  - try formatting the HDD
                  - replace the HDD (format the new one vis SP)
                  - remove the HDD completely (don't forget to uncheck the hdd option within the printer driver)

IMHO, I would say that your HD has just bit the dust after years of faithful service. The firmware upgrade refered to does deal with "SC819 misdetection when a defective HDD sector is discovered." Before I went to any expense or trouble to do an upgrade, I would check to see if it is needed. It did, after all, work all of these years with the existing firmware. Look for "G3676686 D". If you have version 1.14 or higher, this upgrade is not necessary. This firmware version has been on production units since March 2004

I would unplug the HD and see if it fires up. If it does, I would replace the HD and be done. This HD is too old and inexpensive to replace to spend alot of time with. Best of luck to you.
