    CL3000e (G081) Black Printing Issue

I have a CL3000e that I aquired. Everything seems perfect about the printer except for black print (see attached config print). I can print solid color sheets (C,M,Y or mixes) and the pages have a completely even density w/o any bare spots. However, when I print black (K alone), I get vertical white faded lines of varying widths across the page running from top to bottom (lead to trail). I've check toner and black has plenty along with seems to be flowing well. I also just purchased a new black PCU thinking this had to be the source of the problem given that only black is impacted. Unfortunately, I put the new black PCU in and the fade outs occur in the same exact locations.

I've run auto color calibrations, thouroughly cleaned the printer, and still I cannot figure out what is causing my issue. I've tinkered around in the service mode menu, but have not found anything yet that addresses my problem. Any ideas of what could be going on?RicohCL3000e.pdf

Check the laser unit (mirrors, glass) and ITB unit (transfer roller for black).

This unit has a single transfer belt used for both color and black (reason I thought was a PCU issue). I don't have a service manual, but I assume there is a laser fixex in the printer somewhere that has a line of sight to the drum in the black PC? This is what I need to locate along with any mirrors to clean?

      A few hours later . . .

I finally got a chance to break into the printer again, and you were exactly right. The glass that covers the laser used for the black was caked with black toner. After using the right crevasse tool and a shopvac to clean it, all is right with the world. Cleaned all the glasses while I was at it and the print production looks like it did the day the printer was brand new. Thanks for the help, and I just wished that I would have found this forum before I dropped the $80 for a new black PCU.
