[Error Code] Ricoh SP C410DN "set fusing unit correctly"

After installing a new maintence kit for the printer I get a error
message of "set fusing unit correctly" If I pull the new fuser and
insert the old fuser everything is fine.
Any suggestions or is it a case that the 'new' fuser is broken?
    Thanks
    Chris

Sounds like the "new" fuser is either defective or not the correct fuser.

        Well, this is really frustrating.

I have another new fuser unit and it says exactly the same thing when installing it. Should it just work or do I need to prep the unit first?

I have checked and double checked and I have the correct kit

        Any suggestions.
        Thanks
        Chris

I'm not familiar with this particular machine but the fact that you don't see a "set fusing unit correctly" message when you reinsert the original fuser tells me that there is nothing wrong with the printer. The problem has to be with the replacement fusing units. Since a second new fuser is giving you the same message I would think that maybe its not the correct type of fuser. Sorry I can't be more help.

Place the fusers side by side and check the connector's wiring, you may need to remove a few covers to see it clearly. If the wiring is different; but the fusers are similar, then alter the wiring to match.

I agree... When I was a ricoh employee we use to use the the printer version for the copier version because it was cheaper and we changed the wires to match and that works fine if your money conscious. So if you look at the wires on both fusers you will see which ones you need to change it's been a while for me so I don't want to direct you the wrong way. I would switch it to a copier setting so your able to use it and not lose the money from wasting a fuser you could of used. And for the other one that gave the same message I would do the same. Those fusers have a fuse in them once you put them in it pops that fuse to let the machine know it has a new fuser and resets the fuser counters if you have access to the SP modes manual you might need to reset that counter also. Like I mentioned it's been a while so I would look it up to check and make sure it's 0. I hope this works for you.

Now I am starting to get annoyed!

I have discovered that there is 2 types of maintence kits for this printer, type 4000 and type 4100

The first 2 kits I bought were type 4100 and didn't work - I have since bought a type 4000 after reading the instruction book! and it still doesn't work...

I feel I am missing a fundamental step when installing this although I have followed the instructions to the letter!

At this point in time I don't really want to go removing covers from the working fuser because its working!!

I think it might be time to call in the pro's

                Cheers
                Chris

There is a jumper on the back side of the connector. You will have to move one side of the jumper to a different pin on the connector. Very simple procedure, just match it to the working fuser.

Ah well, in that case getting the connector out is easy enough I have already done that - I will have a play tomorrow and see what's what

                    Thanks

                      Its now working!

I had to move 1 wire jumper to another pin and its perfect.

Thanks very much for your help. I now have 2 spare fusers!
