These values are used to manually control the DC charge voltages when Process Control is turned off.

        • It's not a good idea to disable process control.
        • No need to change such SPs unless instructed to by an Ricoh technical bulletin or part of a adjustment procedure.

SP 3041 used to be used to turn portions Process Control On/Off. SP 3041-001 selected whether Process Control or the manual settings would control charge and bias voltages. Sp 3041 is not shown in the Service Manual for the 03's. I have used it in the past to be able to lower the development bias to handle some minor image problems that process could not fix. One instance was a customer printing a newsletter for a hunting group. A picture on a page had a hunter on a hillside wearing a bright red hunting cap. The cap on the page was a little less than 2mm in diameter. The problem was that it was such an intense color spot that the cleaning blade could not fully remove it and it offset down the rest of the page, getting slightly fainter each time. By lowering the development DC bias voltage 50 volts, I was able to eliminate the offsetting. I have since been given the attached document by a regional rep that works by lowering the toner concentration in the developer and raising the transfer current to maintain the the same image density.
