The strechies for the feed tires. Strech over the roller for better feeding.

Haven't seen that stuff in years. We used to get them from Copylite back in the day. Wasn't there also a feed tire tape?

Never heard of this. Would be better off simply using a bit of sand paper to rough up the rollers!?

Yeah Copylite used to have a ribbed tape that could be put on feed tires.

you may not want that... it wears quicker. I did that once to a feed belt... within 3 months... i got a call back. The belt was then shiny...would just misfeed.

sanding takes material out and breaks the surface consistency, and rubber break down quicker...

We used to have an old trick on the old Konica's with feed belts. If you soaked the belt with some tri-flow then wiped it off, the belt would get good and sticky again and buy you some time until you could replace it.

The problem with that is the rubber compound would also shrink as it dried out. Removing the glaze with sand paper or grit cloth might give a bit of texture to the surface but also further reduced the overall diameter.

We used to get a product called rubber rejuvenator from Ames/WestCoast Platen supply. Intended for typewriter platens but worked nicely on copier rollers as well. Plain old lacquer thinner from a local painting supply also worked. Not quite as good but a lot less expensive.

+1 on this.. that chit was amazing .. worked wonders of transport roller as well. Ames (now defunk) had GREAT supplies and some of their tools were really good also.. Still have my Ames snap ring pliers!

although I had one lady in an office that begged for the Lacquer Thinner.. she loved the smell and it pissed off her co-workers so I gave her a small bottle and would refill it when needed... got a GREAT coffee mug for Xmas!

I will lay money that it was more that it pissed off her co-workers. I always tried to avoid using it where there was poor ventilation. I had to clean transport rollers on an Apeco Super Deuce once that at the back of a 5X8 former closet with file cabinets down on side and no ventilation. I had a head ache for a week afterwards.

I still use good old WD-40 others disagree but it does a good job at rejuvenating feed rollers.

Rubber is a petroleum based product that dries out over time. So it makes sense.

Used to get these at Precision Roller. Then I began using "Stix All" in the tube. Just carefully laid it on and gave it 24 hours cure... Worx great if you can still find it. Made by Elmer's.
