    Thank you all for your help.
    The IT guy made a mistake, he admitted it.
    Indeed taking courses is the thing to do, which we offten do!
    But scan to an email server was always done by IT people before, that is why we don't know enough of this part.
    I am a technician, not an IT'er, so please don't blame me.
    I understand that in every part of connectivity one can't know enough.

    Don't sell yourself short. In my opinion, 30+ years as tech is worth a lot more than any A++ certification.

    I second that!

    Even some of the "IT gurus" here, I don't believe could do half the stuff that a tech with ambition can.

    I can’t even count the times an IT admin didn’t know how to:

    1. Properly set up a print queue (ports and sharing)
    2. Select the correct print driver (they never get it right if there is a Fiery involved)
    3. Configure the printer options
