    The policy is incredibly vague.

We all agree that grocery stores are essential but do the politicians understand that the "non-essential" pallet shop makes those foods deliveries possible?

Better yet the company that repairs all those forklifts at grocery stores.

Like you said we service hospitals and police stations so are we then essential by proxy?

Same here in Oregon. Although, how do we define essential? I had all three of my junk mail shops tell me they were essential. To whom? Their bottom line or humanity? I get supporting grocery stores, hospitals, and truely important businesses that support our daily existence. But really ...

We're a mid-sized IT service company (Sales & Service) in Middle River and since we service state & local governments, we fall under the "essential" business.

"Essential Services" means services, by whomsoever rendered, and whether
rendered to the Government or to any other person, the interruption of which
would endanger the life, health or personal safety of the whole or part of
    the population;"

I don't think a broken Copier, Printer, or Fax is going to endanger the life of anyone.

Remember: " The severity of the breakdown, is directly proportionate to the Anxiety of the Operator."

    Re: nonessential businesses or not

Ontario, the largest province in Canada announced this AM those industries which will be permitted to operate following the State of Emergency declared yesterday.

    Specifically

"9. Businesses that supply office products and services, including providing computer products and related repair and maintenance services, for individuals working from home and for essential businesses"

Copier dealers provide essential maintenance services to Health care providers and government offices that depend heavily on their office equipment to efficiently complete their tasks. They also provide essential services to food service providers and many other industries that are currently operating at maximum capacity to service the country during this crisis ... all putting additional demands on their office equipment working perfectly.

Hopefully, this definition will set a precedent across Canada.

    My list this morning:
    VA Clinic
    VA Hospital
    Produce Distributor
    Communication Company

Seems legitimate. Yeah, a little scarry too.

From Homeland Security. I found this a little bit ago, and it directly applies to all of us in the US. As a copier tech, refer to the "communications and information technology" section.

    Re: nonessential businesses or not

... a service tech calling on a freight/ transport/ courier company could be considered an essential service.

Food service companies are working overtime right now to supply grocery stores.

... in the end other than ladies dress shop, essential services is a fairly broad possible definition.

For example, right now, in Nova Scotia it is not allowed to go and get a haircut.

I have read that in Canada law enforcement is more concerned about education than punishment.
