Canon IR Advance 6555i Light copies and prints

What would cause light copies on a 95k Canon IR Advance 6555i? Its not bold if you look at the configuration sheet. The prints are very light.

    1) how many pages on drum/dev/fuser?

    2) have you cleaned/inspected all image formation parts?

    3) original OEM toner/drum?

    4) Who services this machine? Is it done in the proper time with OEM parts?

    COULD be:

    3rd party toner/drums

    dirty machine laser/optics.

    old/defective parts

you talk about config sheets but never upload in .pdf format????

there are so many things that could be the issue but with the limited info, hence all the questions

Thank for a reply back, This machine has been sitting in a warehouse for a while. I just perform a developer install to stir up the developer and it got just a tab darker but still the internal prints are light. This machine only has 95k on meter. I am going to clean the laser window. I was saying the internal PS sheet should be nice and bold but its light.

    what is " a while"?

what are the previous page counts on consumables/service parts?

you can mix the dev without having to do an INIT

machines in storage degrade fast due to inactivity

PLEASE provide all the info I asked for in my first reply to your situation .. or I will turn this over to others to carry the load.

frankly IF you called Canon tech support you would have to provide ALL the answers to my Q's and more.. if you didn't have that info for them

If as you say the machine has been sitting in a warehouse for a while this could be the reason.

Pull all the corona units out & give the wires a clean.

Also clean the slit glass above the laser.

Next run a few hundred prints through the machine this should improve the print quality especially if its only done 95K.

If however this machine does not have genuine toner then you may still have issues.

Re: Canon IR Advance 6555i Light copies and prints

I have seen the same issue with 6000 series and 6200. Have two right now (6555). One has been in customers office for 3 years active service, roughly 590k. The other has been at our office for 1.5 years (mostly idle) with 85k. Both suffer from same issue. Everything is clean, dev has been replaced, as well as coronas. Ive been working on Canon machines for 24 years. Something is up with this series for sure. I have a coworker who has had to adjust the grid value to compensate. But that doesn't always supply adequate results for each customer. Not sure what to tell you, other than you are not alone. If I figure something different out this go around, I will let you know.

Copier tech have stated the solution , but i would like to add something.

It is better to clean the black drum assembly , Since toner can be soiled and damage the waste screw. Check the blade condition replace if needed to protect the drum .also clean the potential sensor above the drum.

And do the rest that he have mentioned ,

    Good luck

You are on to something. 6055 dev rollers would wear out prematurely causing light copies.
I hope you did verify that you were using genuine toner.
I have sen issues back in the day when dumping the toner in the dev would cure light copies

One "Head up" is missing here: The canon IR ADV 6xxx and 8xxx are "white writers" whitch means a soiled Laser will produce darker(!) images. So look for corona, transfer or developing issues. You can also deactivate the potential control in service mode for test purpose and see if the quality improves.
