Question IPF-610 - cannot adjust printhead

    Hey,

I have a weird problem with my IPF610.
I wanted to adjust the printhead automatically, but I always get the error "cannot adjust printhead" and that I should press online to get rid of the message and then try again.

The head is clean and working fine, a nozzle check doesn't show any indication of problems there.

When I want to start a manual adjustment I get the message that I should start the automatic one first - which fails every time.

Then I tried the manual adjustment from the Service Menu - The printout is attached.

Am I too stupid or aren't there any "good" values to select?
What can I do? Is it possible that the multi-sensor is dead?

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Have a great day.

What outputs are you getting from the multisensor?

Optical Sensor Output: Settings > OK > Service Menu > OK > right arrow x3 to Function > down arrow x1 to CR UNLOCK > right arrow x8 to OPT SENS OUTPUT > down arrow to =NO > right arrow to YES > OK "=YES" > right arrow to browse outputs.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Thanks for your reply!

Sadly I dont have these options in the Service Menu - I added the options of my Service Menu as an attachment.
Or is there another Service Menu that I dont know about?

Will it do a gap calibration? What results? Are there any error codes?

I didn't know that the menus was different that the other iPFs. I've worked mostly on 710-785s. =^..^=

Gap calibration seemed to work - it justs reports "CHECK END" when it's done.

Only error code in the log (except some for low ink) is 03863000-2820 - which seems to be "cannot adjust printhead"...

I am running out of ideas; could it still be the optical sensor? I can maybe scrap one of another 610 in unknown condition. Worth a try or not?

The multisensor is probably fine. I suspect that you've got some blocked orifaces in the printhead. If it still prints, they may clear with use. The next step is replacing the printhead. =^..^=

Soo, I replaced the printhead... After that, I tried it again, and it STILL won't adjust the head.

I attached a scan of my nozzle-check and also what gets printed during the automatic adjustment. As far as I can tell the head is fine (just not adjusted very well), but all nozzles seem to be working fine..?

Any further ideas? I'd really appreciate them...

Yeah, but there it was the mainboard - the problem of every second row missing with the Service-Mode-Nozzle-Check is known and a electrical problem. I had this on another iPF 610.
My Service-Mode-Nozzle-Check looks fine; I don't have any missing rows.

Also, as far as I can tell the printout of the adjustment looks fine(-ish?). That's why I suspected the sensor; is there any way to rule it out?

I tried normal 80g paper (roll); also 90g and 100g (DIN A4), and glossy photo paper on a roll (not sure about the weight).

Re: IPF-610 - cannot adjust printhead

If you had a bad multisensor the machine would fail to load paper. If you can successfully load paper you can rule that out.

During the adjustment the machine uses (2) infrared sensors in the bottom of the carriage to read the printed marks. Perhaps those sensors are inked up or the orifaces blocked with paper lint. I've had success cleaning those sensors with alcohol and a cotton swab (without removing the carriage). =^..^=
