6560c ADD TONER CONDITION FOR BLACK

I'm heading out to this machine tomorrow having only worked on this machine once. A little more familiar with the 5506ac than this one. Customer has put a new OEM toner in, shows 100% while cycling then goes to 0% and says add toner.
I was hoping before I get there someone could give me some insight on this. Yup, I know this is not much info but I figured this might be a common issue. I do know the machine has about 180k on it total. Thanks for any help you can provide!

I would slide out the epu tray and check for toner in the sub hopper since the toner cartridge has to feed that first. If there is toner in the sub hopper than slide the door open on the bottom of it where is normally feeds into the dev unit and make sure there is not any blockage. Also once the you have the front cover removed you can watch all the augers turning during a normal initialization process. Watch the k section and compare it to what the other colors are doing.

If your K sub-hooper is full of toner then may be a loss of drive to the K sub-hooper (not feeding to the dev unit) side and it may be a case of just to properly clip back in the whole sub-hooper unit in place to mesh with the driving section, hope this helps

You might check the left doorswitch SW3. If that switch is not being made, the only indication you'll get is that the toner motors don't run. It will feed toner from the hopper until the hopper gets empty. The first one that goes empty will be the toner indication that you see. I seem to recall that the metal arm on the microswitch was bent.

    I've also seen a bad sub-hopper motor on an eS5506ACT. Test in 03-227, 03-223.

I've seen a few failed piezoelectric sensors ... not on these models ... but it's the same piezo on a Kip 7170, or a Kyocera AlphardI, or a Toshiba Shasta.

The Broadpeak XMKII is mostly indistinguishable from the Shasta. Basically the same engine.

Thayer reminded me of the details on this one this morning. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

How many prints on the unit? I've seen several dev units lock up on these newer models and Toshiba came out with a new dev unit upgraded on the plastic housing. Another thing to look at that will not be that obvious is the one way gear on the sub hopper or the little auger on the K subH that might crack. The motor was already mentioned on another reply, that's something to consider as well
    good luck!

Also, if the sub hopper is empty/very low...pop the cartridge back out, flip it upside down, carefully open
the shutter on the cartridge and make sure all of the $#%^#@ tape came off. I've seen a few that the
seal didn't completely come off, and not enough toner got into the sub hopper. Also, ensure the cartridge
was shook up properly. If they didn't, the developer in the toner cartridge got separated from the carrier
and is feeing mostly carrier to the sub hopper.

Thank you all for the reply's! TONER ROCKS!!!! Sub hopper was bound up with a toner rock the size of a large pea not letting the toner paddle turn. Thus, stripping out the inside of the large drive gear where it is attached to the shaft allowing the other two drive gears to turn but not stir the toner.
