    C3100P Issues

I have 2 C3100Ps both at latest f/w, both seem to just drop off the network, they are un-responsive to pings, print jobs just spool in the queue with off line message. You can walk up to machine (not sleeping) and attempt to print a config sheet, print job seems to process, but nothing is output. Cycle power and print jobs flood out, and config page will print when selected.
    Here's what we've done...

    1. All sleep settings disabled, but even when set for 1 min, if a job is sent both will wake and print.,
    2. NIC speed set to 1 gig full duplex (versus auto).
    3. Un used protocol disabled..IPV6, Bonjour, FTP)
    4. interface timeout to max (1000 seconds) from 60 seconds

There does not seem to be any pattern for the network drop off, they are using the universal driver to print (1 MAC user as well but not using Bonjour)

Customer has many other Office machine that are not giving us any fits..Any ideas are welcome. Ed

    Re: C3100P Issues

With many of the Konica Minolta (Lexmark rebadges) we have found that something on the network can lock up the machine. There are a couple threads on this.

I had 5 machines at a single location that would perform all functions when off the network (OK, not print or scan, but would do both crossovered to my laptap), but when plugged into the network the machine locked up. Even internal reports would just set in the queue ... until the network cable was disconnected, then poured out.

We theorized that there was some sort of network traffic that made the NIC unhappy, but were unable to pin it down and their IT mostly just pointed fingers at us.

I believe we ended up replacing the bizhubs with the exact same model of Lexmark, which worked fine on their network.

Naturally, Konica Minolta had never seen that issue before, and after swapping out a couple thousand in parts, we just swapped out the machines.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Unless the network is flooded by broadcast traffic, I can't imagine what would cause the NIC to freeze up. With that many machines doing the same thing, I'd say the NIC's are flawed from the factory.

I would have locked the speed at 10 or 100 duplex. If the network has any non gig speed nics on it that's asking for failure.
    Just my 2 cents.

We have had this happen on small Konica Minoltas. Of course they said they had never seen or heard about it. Almost lost customers over this. Had to swap out the machines. We now sell Ricohs and have not had that problem with the Ricohs yet.

+1 on this. No need to overshoot old troublesome basta.d.
My theory is flawed KM firmware cause this hence when one put Lexy instead of KonMin they will happily print.

Try putting a cheap 5-port ethernet switch between the printer and their network. If they are using power over ethernet it will cause machines to drop off the network. The switch will isolate the printer from POE. We had a 454e doing the same thing. We put it on a cheap $20.00 switch and never had another problem.

We tried that with the small machines with no luck. Installed larger machines at our cost to save the account and they work. My advice - run from the small Konica Minoltas. We have lost accounts due to them.

is this re produceable if you check the printer with laptop/cross cable? Network speed setting or disable energy-saving features within the network switch can fix this kind of issues.

Yes, we are all convinced this is a network issue on their end..I have 8 C3100Ps and 2 C3310s doing the same thing..All the usual culprits have been checked and re checked..I am looking into the POE reply..The problem is the customer says..Fine It's our issue..tell us what we need to do to fix it..E
