    Scan to email using GMX SMTP server

    Hi Guys,
    Im trying to get scan to email working with GMX SMTP server.
    Used the following
    mail.gmx.co.uk
    {somebody@gmx.co.uk}
    {password}
    Port 465
    SSL

    Model im trying to get this working with is a Ricoh MC250FWB.
    Customer is very reluctant to use a service like SMTP2GO and as usual much prefers to load the problem onto the engineer to find the solution for their preferred mail provider.

    Can anyone confirm a working config ? ie Port 587 SSL ?

    Thanks DFM914

    I tried 587 with no encryption first with correct use/psswd before trying SSL.
    Both 587 no encryption & 465 SSL do not work on the MFD.

    According to support.gms.com and livewire.com Port 587 is required. The latest version of the firmware Ver.1.08 Released Date: 23/03/2021 supports only port 465. M C250FWB/C250FW Downloads | Ricoh Global

    Does the account have the box checked for Enable access to this account via POP3 and IMAP under email settings?
    Most of the copiers we have used GMX with won't work if it isn't checked.

    Those both apply to receiving emails not sending or scanning to email.

    Yep, these were enabled anyway as the customer uses a smart phone aswell as laptop to collect emails.
    Its getting so difficult these days to find a simple SMTP relay using port 587 and simple SMTP authentication method.
    Used to use SMTPgrid but its difficult to create accounts with them now for simple small customers who dont have a domain and need this the most.

    Stunnel is still around and still works. stunnel: Downloads

    As for using a smart phone for collecting emails, there is an app for that, independent of the MFP. Mail app: Your email on the go | GMX

    Both those protocols are for receiving yes. However, with GMX, if the box isn't checked the machine won't be able to send via SMTP. I just tested it again with one of our test emails. Box checked, scanning works. Box unchecked, scanning does not work.

    • Update the firmware to version Engine Ver.1.01:02 & MAIN-PDL Ver.1.09 (released 2021/04/23)
    • Turn on DHCP let the device pull correct network info
    • Try a scan again (assuming SMTP info is correct)
