    If you change the head, will it be okay or do you have a problem with the motherboard??

    If the cap absorbers get plugged up(which they do all the time), or the drain holes under them get clogged, you can replace printheads until you're blue in the face and it won't resolve it. Probably go into an error when new printhead is installed. If you do nozzle checks in service mode(un-compensated) and colours mix or huge bare areas in one color, check for air bubbles in the ink lines,etc. If there are, absorbers could be plugged or ink lines plugged(usually at carriage..easily flushed out).

    You made an easy problem hard. Make sure ink absorber is new and replace the printhead and then run a printhead alighnment.

    Good tips for those that can't just replace parts because the customer doesn't/won't pay the expense. Keeping the machine clean is important especially when it sits idle for a while not printing.
    Like Blackcat and I recommend have the customer do at least one to two D size plots a week if possible.
    Also show the end user how to clean wipers and capping assembly.
    Explain to them that doing these simple things can reduce down time and service call costs that will usually catch their attention (if not under contract) it'll save you time also from running out there every few weeks.

    I use Simple Green on a paper towel to clean the PH. Cut to fit in paper trough.. move PH ( un Park un ug move PH over towel and let sit) this will give you time to clean the other parts with Simple Green. Works great on any ink based machine of any brand.
    Also is a great degrea
    ser. Works pretty well on Sharpie marks on covers too.

    No, you make a simple problem costly by throwing parts at it. I see you're not a tech. There is a difference between ink absorbers and cap absorbers..lol. And when it errors after that? Many times that doesn't solve it. If heads are old and absorbers are really gummed up, that doesnt always work... seen it many times of working on wide format for 30 years. Alot of the time it doesn't need a head...it just needs someone that knows what they are doing to service it

    +1 on throwing parts at it. That has a tendency to piss customers off big time. And the tech thingy.
